Hey Swarthy - Great find! Is the writer Muslim?
From the use of the word "us", as in why do they hate "us", it would seem the writer is an American. An American Muslim. An American Muslim from Pakistan.
Bumping for a great article.

I thought along those lines too, but because of certain syntax errors and the way the first person is used in some languages, I didn't want to assume anything (did that once and got royally flamed). And Swarthy confirms that you're right.

He's not an American because he had a choice. He was under a serious fatwa in Pakistan and had to flee, seeking political asylum here in the US.
He might mean 'us' in the sense of the secular muslim, too, both here in the US and abroad.
