[history]
September 13, 2002 -- THE president of the United States made it plain yesterday before the United Nations: "Should Iraq acquire fissile material, it would be able to build a nuclear weapon within a year."
Saddam Hussein's barbaric regime "retains physical infrastructure needed to build a nuclear weapon," the president said. "Iraq has made several attempts to buy high-strength aluminum tubes used to enrich uranium for a nuclear weapon."

Should Saddam be able to use WMD against the US while the Democrats play politics with the lives of its citizens, a possible response from the American people would be to string up on the nearly light pole those Democrats who thought of the party before the people. The kind of thinking that places the people in harms way for political gain necessitates that we clean house (actually, Senate) in November and get these parasites out of office before they do irreparable to our country and our families. The present Democratic leadership are some of the most disgusting vermin to soil the seats of our Congress in the history of our country. When will the people awaken?

Dems are willing to take a chance with nukes against us. Very bad.

I'll say it again: When will the RNC take the gloves off when it comes to the Rats? THERE'S 57 MEMBERS OF THE HOUSE WHO ARE MEMBERS OF THE DEMOCRATIC SOCIALISTS OF AMERICA!!! (THE US CHAPTER OF THE COMMUNIST PARTY.) What the hell? Let's get the word out - it is no longer considered 'hip' to be a commie - and let's get these jerks out of our government before they finish the job they started.

"if they focus on what's best for the country "
This idea is so foreign to your average liberal that it might as well have been written in Sanskrit.

The Democraps Leadership (NOT) and the sheeple that blindly follow them are TRAITORS to the UNITED STATES!
Their stalling tactics are so obvious because they put their politics before their country (if the United States is their country)!

Is it a silly question to ask: Will not the Dems ALSO be annilihated by a nuclear attack. Will not their homes and families ALSO be obliterated and turned to dust? Do they believe that they and theirs will be SPARED the destruction?
Is this some mass psychotic folly a 535?

The R-A-T-S are screwed. There is no question the House will hold a vote on a use ofrce resolution before the election. And when that happens there will too much pressure fro Dashole to stall on the vote or he will be crucified in the press.

And the beauty of it all is that this vote is coming about because the Dems basically demanded it. [snicker]

I disagree.
The press gushed over Bush's UN speech on the overnight news and seemed to back strongly the idea of discussion and using the channels of the UN and Congress. Momentum for attacking Iraq ramped up hugely in the last 24 hours. Once the House has it's vote and the media goes 24/7 over that vote, there is no way Daschle can stall. The media will pose the question, is the Senate stalling for political gain. That in itself is too dangerous a question to leave hanging before an election for Dashole.

I think this is another case where liberal media bias causes the Democrats more harm than good.
Yes, Democrats are the opposition party, and their duty is to oppose. Since they are such loyal Democrats, the reporters and editors who populate our news media are leading the charge... thinking that they are helping. But maybe they're not, and this is the danger that professional Democratic politicians need to worry about. A lot of the political calculation here depends on the degree to which one believes that average Americans are worried about getting blown up. I'm not talking about the sort of background fear that was common in the 1950's and 1960's, when little kids were doing "air raid drills" in school. I mean a more immediate, visceral sense that The Bad Guys are coming, and they have a nuke, and it might be this week or it might be next year, but that they are coming is certain. To the extent that the average Joe believes that -- and I think it's a very prevalent fear -- anything that sounds like sitting on our hands and waiting for it to happen is political suicide. As some wag put it, "The foreign policy of the American people is simple. One: the American people do not want to be blown up. Two: the American people do not want their sons sent off to die in some foreign land, unless it is the only possible way to keep from being blown up." All the stuff about foreign trade, and what to do about Bosnia, is noise to the average American. But when we're talking about madmen coming with a nuclear weapon, the ears perk up. "One: the American people do not want to be blown up." This is what the Democrats are flying into the face of, and they are being led there by their own friends in the media, who think they are being loyal Democrats -- and helping their party -- by "opposing." Except that what they might be opposing is something that almost everyone who is not a rabid, partisan Democrat like most reporters are, wants to see. I think most people -- like on the order of 80-plus per cent -- want to see this threat of being blown up by some madman hollering "Allah Akbar!" as his mushroom cloud rises over New York or Washington, removed and removed forcefully. And sooner rather than later. There is an echo chamber trap that Democrats can fall into where their initial mouthings are echoed back to them by their partisan press friends, and so they come to believe that what they have said is popular, and has wide support. But not this time. I think this time the press is wildly out of touch with what is going on out in the hinterlands. I think the American people do not want to be blown up, and they do not want to hear from politicians who think we should dither some more before doing anything to prevent it. |

Some leading members of Congress appear to be arguing that since we are unable to discern the extent of Hussein's capabilities, we need not act with urgency. Rep. Nancy Pelosi, one of the leaders of the Democratic Party in the House of Representatives, is insisting that "I know of no information that the threat is so imminent from Iraq." She wants Congress to take the matter up next year.
"We don't want the smoking gun to be a mushroom cloud" - Condi Rice.
Sorry, Nancy, but if you want to play craps with the lives of YOUR family members, and wait, great. But, DON'T GAMBLE WITH MY LIFE OR MY FAMILY'S....

You actually think the media is going to question Daschle's political motivations? I sure hope you're right but I doubt it. The media normally questions political motivations only when it concerns a Republican - such as "why is Bush talking war NOW? Is it because of the November election?" This I have heard...Daschle is protected by a media that is nothing more than an arm of the RAT Party. Still, I will pray you are right and I am wrong. God bless.
