I refuse to post this story under its original headline, which was this:
"Mel Gibson launches scathing attack on the Vatican"

I can't wait to see the scene where Jesus beats the crap out of the money changers. Mel should be able to do that scene well. :^)

Mel Gibson has never ceased to be a controversial figure. If Mel does this project right, he'll never work in Hollywierd, again.
This'll piss off quite a few. May the apoplectic fits begin!

The man's a devout Catholic. He opposes changes handed down from Vatican II. There's lots of Catholics that do. That doesn't imply they reject the church as an institution or papal authority. It just means they really don't care much for the liturgy(there may be other things too). And, guess what? they are allowed to. I even recall John Paul II actually doing a Midnight Mass which was Tridentine and not Novum Ordu.
I might be mistaken, but I don't think Mel's "Old Catholic."

You were right in posting a headline more reflective of the content of the story.

My love for religion was transmitted to me by my father. But I do not believe in the Church as an institution. Gibson has a private chapel at his home in Malibu, California, at which the service is conducted every Sunday in Latin. Right on! Latin is a powerful language. I don't know how to explain it. And more to the point, God is in the soul, not in a building, NOT in a beaurocracy.
Way to go, Gibson! Brave Heart! The Patriot! Conspiracy Theory! Great movies! Gibson was an inspiration all through the Clinton regime. And it's not his fault if his contract requires him to parrot certain liberal lines.
Imagine a young lady raised in Malibou who becomes a nun? Fascinating!

Did you see O'Reilly tonight? Mel Gibson on there, describing harassment due to his role playing Jesus. I searched and didn't see a thread. I didn't hear everything he said, so perhaps someone will report in.

Isn't this film based on the novel "The Last Temptation of Christ" a novel by Nikos Kazantakis ?
