But cockerels took longer to learn the task than hens, and hens were bad at learning from cockerels. It was not clear why they seemed to ignore lessons from a male. I'm not going to make a sexist comment here. I'm not going to make a sexist comment here. I'm not . . .

Professor Nicol found the students got a meal much faster after watching how the demonstrators performed before learning from their mistakes. And I always found i got my meal much faster when popping over to KFC.

They appeared to learn faster from dominant chickens "at the top of the pecking order", she said. But cockerels took longer to learn the task than hens, and hens were bad at learning from cockerels. It was not clear why they seemed to ignore lessons from a male. That has been my experience too.

Chickens owed their navigation skills to their relatives, jungle fowl. They owe a debt of gratitude to cousin Icarus.

cockerels took longer to learn the task than hens, and hens were bad at learning from cockerels. It was not clear why they seemed to ignore lessons from a male. So lets see, it takes longer for men to learn things, and women are bad at learning from men and seem to ignore the lessons of men.... Sounds like this behavior may be universally constant among all species :) Lord knows my wife ignores me constantly.

It's amazing what people will spend money on....Someone needed to fund this study?
...Like a chicken farmer couldn't have told this bozo any of this.
And why do articles like this always portray "surprise" at finding that animals aren't stupid as a pile of dirt?
Sure, animals aren't writing books or contemplating the nature of their existence but, anyone who's ever taken 15 minutes to observe the world around them recognizes that animals aren't out running around like...well, like chickens with their heads cut off.

"Her experiments at the University of Bristol showed that chickens were able to learn by watching the mistakes of others".Unlike people such as Trent Lott, who in order to retain power, repeat the same mistakes over and over, without considering the rest of the Republicans who aren't RINO!Can't we get a new leader of the Party? They got rid of Newt, why can't Trent do the right thing?(At least do it for the Party's sake,eh Trent?)
