Sooo...If I'm reading this correctly, top Al Qeadas are now admitting OBL died in the Tora Bora attacks. They are implying the tape we saw in late December was made during an early attack after OBL had been wounded. He then went into hiding the the cave complex.

I remember the night the reports of that HUGE blast was heard. It seems to me it hit near the top of a mountain and the shockwave was felt MILES away. I think there were pictures - from a distance - of the smoke rising from the rubble.

Another newsperson and I debated over whether such a massive blast would have only been used if we were pretty sure OBL was there. It was, and still is, my opinion that was when OBL met his 72 year old virgin in Hell.

Sadly I doubt we'll ever be able to totally prove it. After that blast the military declined comment on just what was hit, only saying a massive cave complex was destroyed.

I've always held out hope that that was when we got him, too. It's also nice to see that there were 320 fighters in the cave with him (if he was really there). In that one explosion, we may have taken out a whole bunch of his best fighters and top lieutenants.

My question is when Shahid says the cave was completely erased and "became nothing," I wonder if he just means the cave completely collapsed or the bomb blew the whole side of the mountain out, leaving nothing but a smoldering pit of ash, or what? If the former, I'd sure like us to get some heavy equipment up there and pull every boulder out of that hole so we could recover all the surviving teeth and bone fragments for DNA analysis. Make it a big archaeological expedition.
