As President Bush urges the United Nations to confront Saddam Hussein and vows the United States will go it alone if necessary, hundreds gathered in San Francisco's U.N. Plaza to rally against military action in Iraq.

"This is the beginning of a campaign to stop a new war against Iraq," said Richard Becker of the International Act Now to Stop War and End Racism Coalition. "We believe that this war can be stopped if the people intervene in the political process."

Some at the rally supported Bush's view.

"People should be angry, not looking for peace," said Jeff Wright, a San Francisco resident who said he surfs for a living and screamed "Attack Iraq, you Girl Scouts" at nearby marchers. "They should be angry and want to go to war against America's enemies."

My peace march slogan:

So he surfs for a living. What did Michael Jordan do for a living? What does Bret Farve do for a living? I don't see a distinction here.

Besides, this guy is on the right side, unlike these other wacos!

Ok, now to my main point. "Bush's war"? Excuse me idoits (refering to the morons in San Francisco, not the readers here!), but we were attacked! War was declared on us long before we responded to it. Had we had a real leader in office before Bush, we might not need to go into Iraq again. However, your boy Clinton was too busy in the oval office with Monica to worry about keeping the inspectors in Iraq and making sure they were able to do their jobs. Even so, it was a cat and mouse game; but at least having to move his facilities around to avoid inspectors slowed him down. Now he has had how many years to work on his weapons programs without restrictions? We know he has desired an A bomb for a long time, how far along is he? We know he has no problem using chemical weapons; he has before, even against his own people.

This man is dangerious and needs to be deposed. He funds terrorists, helps train them, and supports them. He recently had a former terrorist killed (ruled a suicide, AR style - multiple bullet wounds) for refusing to re-activate his terror network.

If this man gets an A bomb, or can manufacture a "dirty" bomb, does any sane person think he won't make it available to Al Quida?

Also, let's not forget that he trains skyjackers in his nation, using the body of a jet liner.

One question I have though. Does anyone do any real work in San Francisco? I work for a major LTL (less than load) trucking company. I have yet to see a shipment to that town. Is SF's version of "industry" nothing more than a collection of eco-wacos, "gay" activists, homeless "advocates" and gun banners? Does anyone in that town have a real job? Perhaps the surfer is the closest thing that town has to a real worker?

The first muslim attack was back when Iran killed 800 Americans and took an embassy...
lest we forget...
They also did Oklahoma City... lest we forget..
A few mysterious airline crashes...
and the events of 09-11
How many terror events have we stopped/interdicted so far?.... a few hundred?

"We believe that this war can be stopped if the people intervene in the political process."

Perhaps,we should try stern language against terrorism?

Queers Undermining Israeli Terrorism

I suppose they were holding up "We Hate Bush!" signs.

(Someone was going to say it sooner or later)

I think palmer was making a funny--since some of us "surf" FR for so long every day that we appear to be doing it for a living...

could you explain to me the connection between oklahoma city and iraq. i haven't heard of this.

It is widely suspected / believed -- by such outfits as the Wall St. Journal -- that Timothy McVeigh had at least one Middle Eastern collaborator. There were several eye-witness accounts to that effect.

From there, it gets conjectural in a hurry. Do the dots connect up with Hussein or bin Laden?

I've never seen those dots connected in a credible way.

On the other hand, there is the possibility that they do connect.

It would be interesting to learn how ANSWER gets its funding. Maybe Ramsey Clark will fill us in during his next TV appearance.

Dear Sister Ping, plese note for the calendar:

Becker said Saturday's rally, which traveled throughout the city's civic center, is the first of a campaign of anti-war demonstrations, including one slated for Oct. 26 in San Francisco and Washington D.C.

Getting Freepers out to these events to counter Freep is like herding cats!
