Hi, When my older daughter was homeschooling her 2 kids several years ago, I would go to antique stores down here and buy her history books that had not been revised. If anyone is looking for good books like this, then those antique stores are the place to look.

No, no, no!!!! Don't thank the Supreme Court! They did not make him win! They just stopped the stealing of an election...um...or is that what you meant? LOL! By the way, I love him more every day, too! He is wonderful!

Dick Morris. Nothing more refreshing than to watch a Clintonite finally see the light.

I almost fell off my chair in gales of laughter when he said....."I sure would have fixed this if I were Governor." What an IDGIT!!

I absolutely WANT algore to run! I want the GREAT and WONDERFUL GEORGE W. BUSH to beat him in a landslide!! I want him to get LESS votes than Walter Mondull!!

It's especially funny to picture the two of us, posting in a frenzy, ignoring the posts of people trying to tell us what was going on!

I had a mental picture of both of you with your little noses to the grindstone trying so hard not to disappoint the whole WWW who waits for The Dose. Your keyboards must have been on fire. Really funny, and I'm sorry I missed it!

A-MEN to that! Laura is beautiful in the white suit, and it doesn't gap......unlike Hillary in her pink pant suit, fat arms bulging the sleeves and fat thighs practically splitting the pant seams, and the gaps between the buttons down the front. (Off now to wash my mouth out for being so catty.)

Another difference between clinton and President Bush is that our President is a straight talker. You don't have to parse his words. What a welcome relief that is - plus his impecable character and integrity.

As much as I hate to admit it, Clinton did have political skills but W so surpasses him because beyond his political skill and acumen is a real man who means what he says. Clinton's political skills fell short because he didn't have the character to back them up.

This is really a critical point, Wphile. Having political skills without character leads only to deceit. Having political skills with character leads to victory over the enemy.....both domestic and foreign.

When I was in school, back in the dark ages...

LOL. Did you have to walk to school and eat lard sandwiches for lunch, too? My dad tells me that story everytime I complain about something.

But seriously, I think about the time I was in the fourth grade I got really interested in the Founding Fathers and the American Revolution. I read every book I could find about George Washington and the Revolutionary War. I think there was a book called Johnny Tremain, fiction, but it was my very favorite book.

I think I have a problem with books, too. I buy them faster than I can read them. I am on At Any Cost now and I have about 20 more waiting on my shelf.

David McCoullough spoke in support of the new education incentive.

That makes sense. He's always the one narrating the History specials on PBS, and he's the one who just wrote the book about John Adams.

Well, the Texas stuff is a BIG part of American history, you know. I learned much more about Texas than I did about, let's say.......Nebraska........ which is also big and far away from here! :o)

Having political skills without character leads only to deceit.

And bill clinton certainly is testimony to that!!

How about little tommy? Sort of did an about face on the Iraq vote, eh? Those polling numbers must have scared the heck out of him. I love W!

I found this today and thought it should be posted here. I think it was written with GWB in mind

Leaders vs. Followers

When leaders make a mistake, they say, "I was wrong." When followers make mistakes, they say, "It wasn't my fault."

A leader works harder than a follower and has more time; a follower is always "too busy" to do what is necessary.

A leader goes through a problem; a follower goes around it and never gets past it.

A leader makes and keeps commitments; a follower makes and forgets promises.

A leader says, "I'm good, but not as good as I ought to be;" a follower says, "I'm not as bad as a lot of other people."

Leaders listen; followers just wait until it's their turn to talk.

Leaders respect those who are superior to them and tries to learn something from them; followers resent those who are superior to them and try to find chinks in their armor.

Leaders feel responsibile for more than their job; followers say, "I only work here."

A leader says, "There ought to be a better way to do this;" followers say, "That's the way it's always been done here."
