This is the center piece of Dr Howard Dean's campiagn for president. Amazing that a doctor could be so willing to sell out patients in this way.

Note that some of the proposed solutions:

1) "Mandate" shorter waiting times (yeah, that'll work), or
2) Allow people to go out of country for treatment. That means sending them to the US. I guess the Canucks will then pick up the bill from the US hospital.

If the US goes to a similar program, where will we go "out of country" for medical care? Mexico?

The US medical and pharmaceutical industries are the engine that drives medical advancement for the whole world. The profit motive in the US spurs innovation and rewards the risk-taker. If the US system is socialized, there will be no more innovation, and no free rides for anybody else in the World. The World will fall into a new medical Dark Age, where people subsist on the accomplishments of the previous generations, and no advancements are ever made.

This is what Hillary! has in store for us.
