Tina Conner has claimed that Gov. Paul Patton made harassing calls to her after she ended their relationship.

FRANKFORT, Ky. -- From the beginning of 1997 through last month, 440 phone calls were made from the office of Gov. Paul Patton to five telephone numbers of the woman who has sued Patton alleging sexual harassment, state telephone records show.

Sure hope Kentucky's intelligence service hasn't declared a secret war on any out of state terrorists. The Gov won't have time to deal with it.

Biography

JUDI CONWAY PATTON

FIRST LADY of the
COMMONWEALTH of KENTUCKY

Her work on behalf of women’s safety also extends to the issue of rape. In the fall of 1999, Mrs. Patton successfully lobbied the Governor to create a first of its kind Governor’s Task Force on Sexual Assault, a body for which she served as honorary chair. That successful work group now has been folded into the Governor’s Council. Through the Task Force, Mrs. Patton proposed legislation to create Rape Crisis Centers in statute, to remove special restrictions on marital rape victims, to toughen the state’s response to sexual offenders, to create additional civil remedies and other protections for rape and stalking victims, and other reforms.

***** BREAKING BREAKING BREAKING *****

84WHAS LOCAL NEWS

From the 84 WHAS newsroom...

(Frankfort, KY) -- Governor Patton has called an unexpected news conference for late this afternoon. Sources tell 84WHAS that the Governor will discuss the recent allegations of an affair with a West Kentucky woman, and may in fact, admit the affair. NewsRadio 84 WHAS will carry the Governor's address live this afternoon.

WHAS Radio is also saying that Governor Patton will ask the Commonwealth to "forgive him," and will inform the public that he will seek counseling. Notice the weasel scheduled this for 5pm on a Friday; the time is strategic; anyone who has worked in media, like myself, knows that this is the absolute WORST time to have a press conference, as many reporters are on their way home or working on weekend feature stories, and also it allows the public to concentrate on other matters, rather than pay attention to the news.

PRECISELY !
And that is the best thing about all this, because I love Jim Bunning! Not only is he MY SENATOR, he is, IMHO, one of the most conservative U.S. Senators (maybe THE most conservative, with Helms, Thurmond, Gramm all going, going gone). And I like Bunning far more than McConnell.

Did you leave off the *sarcasm* alert ?? Terry Meiners is, in no way, in love with Bill Clinton. I have heard him say publicly, at least once and maybe twice, that he voted for Bob Dole and G.W. Bush. Now, "Fairy" Abramson may be another story, because everyone at Clear Channel Radio seems to kiss his ring.

Watching this story is such great fun! First, Patton made an awkward, clumsy denial of the entire affair. Unbelievably stupid since the lady already had produced hotel receipts that could matched to Patton's itinerary through FOIA. It was just a matter of time before he would have to admit he lied IMHO.

Now, it looks like he will claim he had an affair, but will deny favoritism. Again, I think the evidence is pretty strong that Birchtree got the shaft once the affair ended. Now that Patton admits the affair, proving the favoritism will be much easier.

Hopefully, the final act in the play will be Governor Patton being sent to prison. I can't wait! I wonder how many of his henchmen will go down with him?

BTW Meiners is definitely a Republican. He has appeared at fundraisers for numerous Pubbie candidates.

Just over half of the calls -- 225 -- were made to a nursing home that the woman, Tina Conner, operates in Clinton in Hickman County.
What is it with Democratic governors showering unwanted attention on nursing home operators?

What the local media are saying:

From WAVE 3 News At Noon(NBC)
Television, Louisvile 09/20/02 12 - 12:30 pm

"Good afternoon. Govrnor Paul Patton is cancelling several public appearances today to apparently answer questions surrounding his surrounding his alleged affair with Tina Conner. The Kentucky Lottery official and business woman has filed a sexual harrassment suit against the Governor... So far Patton has denied a sexual relationship with Conner. Patton will hold a press conference today at 5 pm in Frankfort.... Wave 3 News will bring you that conference live and continuing coverage throughout the day.

University of Louisville professor and political science analyst Paul Webber joins us now with his thoughts on the alleged affair. There are other developments in the alleged affair between the Governor and Conner. Topping today's local newspaper headlines- newly-released phone records show from early 1997 up until last month, 440 phone calls were placed from Patton's office to five telephone numbers belonging to Conner. Just over half of the calls were made to a nursing home that Conner operates in Clinton, kentucky. Tina Conner tells Wave Three News- Governor Paul Patton just wouldn't leave her alone. In an interview from a friend's home in Colorado Conner admitted to having 10 to 11 sexual encounters with patton- including inside this Louisville hotel."

From Channel 9 News At Noon
WCPO-TV CH 9 (ABC) Television Cincinnati
09/20/2002 12:00 - 12:30 pm

"Kentucky Governor Paul Patton, under investigation for an alleged extramarital affair, was a no show for a dedication at NKU this morning. The Governor was scheduled to be in town for the ribbon cutting ceremony for the school's new 38 million dollar natural science center. Patton's office says he is planning to hold a press conference at 5 o`clock in Frankfort. The spokesperson would not reveal the reason for the conference and we will have a full report starting at six-o-clock. "

There will be tremendous pressure for Patton to resign. The Dems are afraid of what could be a strong Republican candidate for Governor. No one with credibility will want to run as a Democrat if Patton doesn't resign. Please resign right away "for the good of the party" governor (like he cares!)

The Courier is one of the most slanted rags in the country. In fact, the day this story broke, the CJ placed it prominently on the far column of their Metro section.

Had this been McConnell, Bunning or any other Republican, they would have been screaming for their resignations in the headlines. For Patton, it didn't even merit coverage in their front section much less on their front page.

"What is it with Democratic governors showering unwanted attention on nursing home operators? patent +AMDG"

Oh that's easy. There are several really good reasons in demonrat eyes.

1st: There's all that free government money from federal programs like social security, medicaid, etc. and from numerous state programs. The fraud options are like a smogasboard. Of course a 'fair' percentage must be donated to the correct political organizations, or else the regulators will come down like stink on caca.

2nd: All those patients 'need' help to correctly fill out their ballots at election time. Espicially those that have passed away in the last few years or so

3rd: If the operator is a looker then the above reasons can be used to demand certain perks.

With a little more thought put to it you probablely can come up with more reasons, I thought of these in just a few seconds. Our lawyer Freepers should be able to come up with many more, if they're worth thier salt.

Just a thought, looking this over:

If you Freep this guy, you run the risk of contributing to the image of him as a sympathetic character. Bill Clinton was never so popular as when he was perceived to have been "under attack" for his personal transgressions (and although there is favoritism involved here, the personal aspect is what some people will zero in on).

We all knew what slime he was - we also knew that there was far more to it than sex - and NO ONE wanted him gone more than I did, but don't forget how the general public reacted.

Think it through. Be politically smart. We all learned something in the nineties, I hope.

Thanks for the heads up! Here's a tidbit:

Cincinnati Enquirer 9/28/98 Patrick Crowley "Like the Democrats needed this, this being the indictments of four people who worked in the 1995 election of Gov. Paul Patton..Piled on top of that is the bombshell news last week that four people who helped get the governor elected -- among them his top aide and three men involved with organized labor and the Teamsters Union -- are accused of breaking election laws.."
