This was so good, I just had to use it (from the White House.gov website, from Ari's press briefing today)
The President began his day this morning with a phone call to Prime Minister Balkenende of the Netherlands. The two spoke for approximately 15 minutes. They discussed the situation in Iraq. The President thanked President Balkenende for the Netherlands' strong support as expressed in a recent speech that was given to the United Nations by Netherlands.
The President also this morning called President Putin, of Russia. The two spoke for approximately 30 minutes. They discussed the situation in Iraq. The President talked about the need to make certain that the United Nations pass resolutions that are firm, that accomplish the goals of disarmament and don't let Iraq avoid responsibility.
Following the meeting, the President met with a group of Republican governors who are in town visiting Washington. And then the President had a meeting with the Russian Foreign Minister and Defense Minister in the Oval Office. During that meeting, the two discussed -- or the three discussed the ABM treaty, the situation in Georgia, as well as the situation in Iraq.
And then the President had a meeting with Senator Phil Gramm and Senator Zell Miller, a bipartisan group that is working to get passed homeland security in the Senate.
The President will later depart for Camp David, where he will spend the weekend.
Enjoy your daily dose of Dubya!
We need to continue our prayers for our President, who bears the great responsibility of making the decision to send our young men and women to war. His burden can only be lightened through his knowledge that God is Sovereign, and is in control.
Thanks!
I had to turn off the computer for a while during the storm, but it wasn't severe right here, even though we had severe thunderstorm warnings in our county.
All I got from it was a wet carpet, because I forgot to shut one of the front windows, and a very scared cat who is still in the basement!
I haven't heard from husband or daughter who were both on the road.....going in opposite directions.......but am assuming that 'no news is good news.'
I, however, am here alone, so you FRiends need to keep me company!
I understand that Condi took the comments of the German Justice Minister very, very personally. She's horribly offended that any German cabinet minister could make such a disgusting remark about an American president. She's even more disturbed that the German people have allowed it.
I too, can not tell you how offended I am by both the remark, Shroeders weak explaination (you couldn't possibly call it an apology) and the German people who took from us for years, have their prosperity as a result of a very, very generous victor, and show their appreciation by not even a wimper of dessent at that outrageous statement.
"This one was wild and a little spooky once you find the ghost in the picture. It took me a few seconds to find it, but when you do it just stands out. Like one of those optical illusions. To save you some time, concentrate around the table . Best not to focus too much on one spot. Look around the table and toward the window."
I'll keep praying all is okay with your husband daughter. I agree with the no news is good news attitude. I am here alone too. Dh is at a business related event, and Little Miss McLynnan is on her first date! She is seeing Bill Cosby with the cutest boy and his parents. I am new at this "mother of the date" business, but it was so funny when he rang the doorbell and came in to pick her up. Since I know his parents well I skipped the "bring her home safely or Mr. Mc will make you pay" lecture.
rintense - thanks for letting us know about MM!
Miss M - Our prayers are with you and all those affected by that horrible storm. We're SO glad you are okay.
7of9 - If YOU can't get Vlad to understand...no one will - thanks for keeping up the good work!
Hi All - I don't know if you all know what's happening here in CA with our Gov's race. It was pretty cute yesterday and today... Gray (we all found out his REAL name is Joseph Graham Davis - Mom's nickname for him was "Gray"...so we're all calling him Joe now) will only agree to one debate at Noon, and one debate on Hispanic tv is still in the works. The L.A. radio guys, John & Ken have repeatedly given "Joe" the offer to have a debate on their show...drive time...on the hottest radio slot in the State. He has refused; however Bill Simon has agreed. Well, the ONLY thing that these two could come up with to try to sway "Joe" to do the right thing and debate Simon is to PAY HIM! So John & Ken and their station announced that they would PAY DAVIS $10,000. to participate in a debate with Simon. Then, Simon was listening to them, and called in. SIMON OFFERED "JOE" AN ADDITIONAL $20,000. with the money going to a mutually agreed upon charity, 'cause Simon can't trust Davis to give it to any other "charity" than himself. Simon said, "I'll give him the money to give to a charity...and I don't consider his re-election campaign a charity." It was so funny! Simon was calling Davis "Joe" and getting on Davis' case right along with our radio guys.
Today, the radio station announced that it would match Simon's $20,000 so the stakes are now $40K for Davis to show up.
My only question is where is Arnold, and Cong. Dryer and all the other Republicans in this State, when Bill Simon needs them???? ---None of this "I'll be back, Arnold...put up NOW or shut up!"
