I'm not buying it either - political ploy - my foot. Political ploy at the expense of my President's character????? I'm praying the "good" Germans will vote this slime out of office. Surely, there are Germans out there who realize that they would not even be up to 3rd world status if it wasn't for the compassion of the people of the United States.

OH, my! How time flies!

1969?? The year that Neil Armstrong (from OHIO) walked on the moon?!

Where has my life gone! LOL!

MISS MARPLE: My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family/neighbors!

ALL: I strongly recommend that you make Andrew Sullivan's website one of your "favorites" [Yes, he subscribes to an 'alternative lifestyle' that I find objectionable; however, he is a staunch conservative and a loyal supporter of President Bush! He's also an AWESOME blogger -- his shots at the NY Times are priceless!]:

http://www.andrewsullivan.com/

Excerpt from today's "blog":

41, 43 AND UNILATERALISM: Much is currently made of the contrast between the first Bush's instinctive multilateralism and his son's alleged go-it-alone recklessness. So I'm glad Jon Rauch tracked down this passage in George H.W. Bush's memoir, "A World Transformed," co-written with Brent Scowcroft. The passage begins with news reaching the president of Saddam's invasion of Kuwait:

A few minutes later, I was on the phone with Tom Pickering, our U.N. ambassador. While I was prepared to deal with this crisis unilaterally if necessary, I wanted the United Nations involved as part of our first response, starting with a strong condemnation of Iraq's attack on a fellow member. Decisive U.N. action would be important in rallying international opposition to the invasion and reversing it.

My italics. Methinks the contrast between 41 and 43 is overblown.

Hi, You all should be in this area tomorrow. There are going to be about 100,000 motorcyclists coming through HSV on their anuual Trail of Tears ride from Chattanooga to Waterloo in the NW corner of AL. We were going out of town last year and saw some of them going through. What a sight to see so many riders in one place. They are closing some of the exits of 565 for them to get through town.

Yes, Jarrell was flattened and then hit again a year or two later. It's only around 40 miles south of where we live. Eric has a big sense of adventure, doesn't he? My husband's uncle was a tornado chaser for several years along the Texas/Oklahoma state line which is a tornado magnet. I can understand the attraction. They are awesome to watch as long as you can do it from a distance.

I received one of these several weeks ago and deleted it by mistake. You really have to look anywhere except the table.

Thanks for letting us know you're there where the action is, and safe through it all. Good grief, I think that's enough trouble for one day, may tomorrow be much easier.

Bless you and your family.

I was in MissMarple's neighborhood this morning for a funeral. You are right about the tornadoes. It seemed like that tornado chased me all the way home after the funeral. It touched down three different places where I was this morning.
I'm wondering how long they will be without electricity. There were places where there was a lot of damage plus the power company can be really slow around Indianapolis. You can't do anything without electricity anymore unless you are fully equipped for camping. I am glad MM and family is all right.

Get out! I worked in an office building at Stemmons and Mockingbird. That was one scary afternoon. In retrospect I should have stayed at work until it passed over, but I was young and stupid.

Hey, don't feel bad. I had to do a Google because I couldn't remember when it happened.

I caught the heads up from rintense re: your proximity to the big winds, feel compelled to wish you and all nearby good luck and may you be safe and well.

You're sort of a lucky charm here on FR, Miss Marple, and we all love ya.

We may have worked in the same building. There were like twin buildings where I worked, I turned down Regal Row and then right on Stemmons. It was on Regal Row where the hotel got the damage.

Thanks, jwfiv!

When you see those big red blotches on the radar coming right at you, you never know what to expect. I guess they lightened up as they moved across Ohio.

McLynnan.....thanks for that link. I had forgotten that the 74' Xenia tornado was part of a massive outbreak of storms that continued moving east, and caused damage all over the place. Wicked weather.

That is the same one that came through west AL and Huntsville back about 74. We were hit hard in the southern part of town. We watched them form on the radar and when one would go through another one would form. What a night!!

I agree with your offense on the comments from the German leaders. Words mean things, they aren't just hot air when they come from people in positions of responsibility.

And it isn't as if all we have given them happened a thousand years ago or a hundred years ago. The Berlin wall came down in 1990 after all. How short is their memory, how absent their gratitude, how hateful are their comments! I would have expected something like that from Pravda in the middle of the cold war, not the land of many of my ancestors.

I think I know the buildings you are talking about. I worked in the Honeywell Building, and don't know if its name has changed. It was on the west side of Stemmons at Mockingbird -- black glass with white trim. I was cursed working there. First I had to drive home in tornados, then they had an electrical fire one day and we had to evacuate down the stairwell from the 15th floor.
