Was this recently? I've only been in one and it was a little one. I was stuck in rush hour traffic over 20 years ago heading north on Stemmons Freeway. The sky was that eerie green color and we all stopped our cars and watched it cross over Stemmons from the west. It touched down about two blocks east of Stemmons around Walnut Hill Lane. Of course this was accompanied by golf ball sized hail -- got my attention, lol!

Hey, this is amazing. I saw the very tornado you speak of. I worked in an office building on Stemmons. We saw the roof taken off that hotel there on 183.

As soon as we saw that, we headed for the basement in the building. I know the green color you speak of very well.

I was visiting my family in Michigan in 1980 and got a taste of that pea-green sky, blow-the-man-down weather. My son was three and a half and he was terrified as we fled to the basement during what the weatherman said would be "some thunderstorms," one morning. My (real) dad always parked his car in this one spot and that day, he had the strongest impression not to park there, so he didn't. When the storm hit, a tree fell where his car usually sat. He was driving a heavy, heavy truck when it hit -- not quite a tornado, but as close as it gets -- and he couldn't control the vehicle; it was blown backwards. Damage was over a million dollars for just a few minutes' of the big wind. I'll never forget that erie, pea green, DARK, sky.

I remember as a kid, living there, sitting on the roof and watching the skies when tornado watches were on, and playing in the neighbor's tornado cellar, being very glad they had one close by.
