Its not really about nukes. Other third world countries have them, and others will inevitably get them.

The problem at hand is to make sure that Saddam and the Baathists don't get them.

Saddam has already shown what he will do, with or without nukes. He didn't need nukes to slaughter the Kurds; he didn't even need "WMD" or gas to slaughter them. Artillery and machine guns combined with bulldozers worked just fine.

Hundreds or even thousands of Kurdish villages disappeared from the face of the earth during the eighties the old fashioned way.

Just as he did not need nukes to enter Kuwait by force.

Our problem in Iraq is that we have been at war there for 10 years now, and dare not let go while Saddam remains in power. His aims for the region have not changed. His methods have not changed. And, though he has matured in years, his sons are young and crazier and more dangerous than he is.

So containment for another generation is really not an option; our "allies" will see to it that Saddam eventually escapes from his box. But, this time, if there is no will to confront him while the advantage is with us, there will certainly be no courage to do it once the calculus has been altered in his favor.

The guy misses the main point. A "threat" must not only possess the capacity to have nukes/gas/bio warfare, but have the means, motive, and opportunity to use it.

Al-Quaeda has the motive, but not the means.

Korea, despite some posturing, has the means, but not the motive.

India, Pakistan, other nuke countries similarly lack the critical motive.

But Saddam . . . . He's got it all. I say, fit him for the pine box.

Quick, someone tell Saddam that Michael Levi is probably Jewish.
Otherwise, just dump him in Rammallah with the other terro-syms and pick up his corpse the next day.
