April 23, 2001 -- Muammar Gaddafi, the Libyan head of state -- and a close personal friend of former South African President Nelson Mandela -- has urged Africans to drive white people out of the continent because "their presence is unlawful" and "make them pay compensation for exhausting the land." He also said Africans should rid themselves of the white person's cultural legacy, including  European languages because they "cannot express our feelings and thoughts".

Tunis - Libya's leader, Muammar Gaddafi, has urged Africans to drive white people out of the continent and make them pay compensation for their exploitation of it.
"The white colonialists have no place in Africa and their presence is unlawful," said Gaddafi on Sunday, addressing a gathering of African women activists in Tripoli.
Gaddafi, whose remarks were reported by the official Libyan news agency Jana monitored in Tunis, also urged Africans to rid themselves of the white person's cultural legacy, including language.

"This is another battleground before us, to shake off the leftover of the colonialist culture," he said.

'Shake off the leftover of the colonialist culture'
"Their languages and the colonial culture cannot express our feelings and thoughts, which we can do only by speaking the languages of our forefathers," he added.

Gaddafi urged Africans to take their cue from Libya's experience when it expelled about 20 000 Italians during the late 1960s, and to do the same with whites who are still settling in other African states.

"We (Africans) demand compensation from them and (then) send them packing because they colonised us and slaughtered us and made the most of our lands during the colonial era," he went on.

The 59-year-old Gaddafi is the driving force behind a project to unify the 53 African nations into one state modelled on the United States of America.
He hosted the signing of a declaration by 46 African countries in March announcing the birth of an African Union to replace the four-decades-old Organisation of African Unity (OAU).

Amazed to hear... white farmers in Zimbabwe asking for compensation:
Gaddafi said he was "amazed to hear some white farmers in Zimbabwe asking for compensation" from President Robert Mugabe, who vowed last week to continue his controversial drive to seize white-owned firms for redistribution to blacks.

"Colonialist whites exhausted the African land, turned it into desert, destroyed forests and impoverished its soil," said Gaddafi.

Recalling once again Libya's own experience, he said: "The September First revolution when it took place in 1969 found that 20 000 Italians owned everything in Libya. It expelled them and de

Radio Islam programme draws complaints from Catholic Church
research@misa.or - http://www.misa.org

Sept 23 2002 - BLANTYRE -- The Catholic Church in Malawi has dragged Radio Islam to the Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority (MACRA) on allegations that the radio aired what the church describes as provocative and insulting programmes.

Malawi has been simmering with religious tension between Muslims and Christians since 1999 when Bakili Muluzi, a Muslim, was re-elected president of Malawi.

Mosques were set ablaze and some houses belonging to people suspected of supporting Muluzi were torched.

The tension heightened when the ruling United Democratic Front pushed for a constitutional amendment to allow Muluzi another five-year term in office.

The proposal split Malawi's religious circles with the Muslim Association of Malawi supporting the amendment while Christian faiths have mobilised all their resources to fight the bill.

Monsignor Joseph Kim of the Catholic Church wrote MACRA concerning phone-in programmes aired on August 17 and 21, 2002.

Kim said contributors to the programmes were responding to an official pamphlet allegedly produced by Catholics at one parish in Blantyre, the capital of Malawi.
In the pamphlet, the Catholics demanded that only teachers of Catholic faith be allowed to teach at Catholic schools and that pupils should be either Catholics or Christians if they are to be admitted in the Catholic schools.

Radio Islam broadcast insult after insult at catholic church leaders:
According to Kim the Radio Islam radio programme aired "insult after insult" directed at some top leaders of the Catholic Church and the church in general. He also noted

Zulu Chief Buthelezi condemns tribal superstition that child-rape is a cure for Aids...
http://www.anc.org.za/briefing/index.html -

ULUNDI 20 September 2002 Sapa - Congress of Traditional Leaders of SA KwaZulu-Natal provincial chairman, Chief Mangosuthu Buthelezi, condemned on Friday Aids-infected men who believed they would be cured by raping a child.

Also, the Gauteng government is appealing to civil society organisations to help curb the rape of children, a senior provincial government official said on Friday.

Buthelezi, also South africa's home affairs minister, was speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the province's Traditional Leaders HIV/Aids Task Team at Ulundi's Emandleni-Matleng Camp.

Buthelezi said that while scientists were racing to find a cure for the virus, "a great deal of despicable superstition" around the disease existed within communities.

Sheer malevolence of raping children -  spreads more Aids:
"I will not tolerate the sheer disrespect and malevolence rape displays. Rape and 'sex with virgins' will only cause the spread of HIV and the death of more people from Aids," he said.

Buthelezi warned that those who were HIV positive had the responsibility to ensure that they did not spread the disease.

22-m South Africans go to bed hungry every night --

July 23, 2002 -- The Mail and Guardian quotes Saliem Fakir, South African programme coordinator for the IUCN-World Conservation Union, as saying that due to soaring food prices inside South Africa, about 22-million people go to bed hungry every night. Many millions of poor South Africans now eat only one meal a week.

Food-gathering existence for millions:
Staple foods such maize and other cereals have more than doubled in price these past six months inside South Africa, which has already exported 2-million tonnes of emergency food aid to famine-struck neighbouring coountries. With 16% of South Africans now so poor that average poor households must survive on R144 a month, these millions of people have returned to a hunter-gatherer existence in Africa's natural environment to find food.

It is estimated by the land and agrarian studies programme of the University of the Western Cape that these "natural food resources" gleaned from the African veld represent up to R5,000 a year in value to these households' income. Most have no or little formal income.

Feed South African: many eat only one meal a week...
Rocketing staple food prices have forced many non-governmental aid agencies to back food aid for needy communities, says Lisa Jehosefat, the founder of Feed South African, which deals with malnutrition in South Africa.

Rural communities in KwaZulu-Natal and the Eastern Cape are the worst hit, but hunger also stalks urban areas. Feeding centres in Alexandra and Soweto, two of the biggest townships in Johannesburg, regularly encounter severe cases of malnutrition.
Jehosefat says her organisation deals with many people who eat only one meal a week.

African Children Feeding Scheme: 11,000 children only get a daily peanut butter sandwich
Rejoice Nkutha runs a programme in Gauteng called the African Children Feeding Scheme, which feeds 11,000 children a day. She says rising food prices have devastated the feeding scheme and her team can no longer afford to give the children food parcels. "They only receive pe

Poor face starvation in grain-basket South Africa
September 22 2002 at 12:30PM - IOL - -By Michelle Pughe-Parry and Brett Adkins - This article in the Sunday Independent newspaper claims that "South Africa produces enough food for all its citizens, but many people still face starvation and possibly death because they cannot afford to pay soaring food prices."
  • However this assessment is not accurate: Grain-SA has been warning for months now, that South Africa's government assessments of the grain crops was far too optimistic - that South African farmers now have 1-million hectares less farmland than in 1994 due to the ANC's "redistribution of farm land" policy  -- and that wheat and maize production are still dropping steadily inside the country.
  • Grain SA also warned the SA government not to sell off its strategic grain supply of 2-million tons of maize to neighbouring countries.
  • This advice was disregarded, however -- a dangerous strategy as the experts at the FAmine Early Warning system of the FAO network are predicting a serious drought in the entire region due to the El-Nino weather effect. South Africa will need all the grain it can raise in the next few years to feed their own population with.
  • Still, the government continues with its land alienation policies - taking viable farm land away from capable excess-food-producers and turning it over to subsistence families who barely manage to keep their own families alive with the food they raise on their small 1-hectare tenancy smallholdings.

SHORTAGE OF FOOD -- HIGHER FOOD PRICES -- Consumer organisations are now warning that poor South Africans cannot afford to buy food any longer because the food prices are running out of control - warned Tami Bolani of the the National Consumer Forum. "Something must be done. People must have access to basic foodstuffs."

The NCF's comments follow the government's announcement this week that it was planning steps to curtail sky-rocketing inflation in the cost of many basic foodstuffs.

Bolani accused food companies of fixing prices -- an allegation which is being denied.

His organisation met in  Midrand this weekend to formulate a strategy on the issue.

Sister Rejoice Nkutha, co-ordinator for the Gauteng-based African Children's Feeding Scheme, said the hike in food p

Agriculture Correspondent  Nasreen Seria -  Business Day - The Agricultural Business Chamber has encouraged the ANC-ruled South African government to "use direct measures to help poor households with rising food costs"-- (such as feeding schemes and an end to taxing food) --  rather than reintroduce price controls.

This follows fears that government might be considering the reintroduction of price-fixing measures and a return of apartheid-era agricultural control boards which were dismantled in the past decade. The cabinet said last week it would discuss "concrete recommendations" on food prices when it meets again in two weeks' time.

The chamber said price fixing offered "no real solution" to rising food prices and the problem should instead be addressed by direct measures to help consumers, such as food coupons for poor families and zero value-added tax on all food groups, including red meat.
Ccabinet spokesman Joel Netshitenzhe ruled out "short-term reactions -- such as subsidies to farmers and price controls."

The National Chamber of Milling said government would be wise to "not clutch (at) ill-conceived shortterm solutions with dire longer-term results". Executive director Jannie de Villiers said import duties on wheat and maize should be reduced to zero by the end of next month. The agricultural industry would not be "sabotaged" by a zero rate on import duties, the chamber spokesman felt.

Weak rand: low grain stocks:
However, the Agricultural Business Chamber mouthpiece said a food strategy based on "cheap imports" was unsustainable due to the weak rand. It warned of higher international prices for grain products, because "global grain stocks will remain (critically) low for the foreseeable future".

The maize futures market, which has been blamed as a reason for high maize prices, was also the subject of the treasury investigation. But the SA Futures Exchange (Safex) has denied claims that its agricultural derivatives market was inefficient and that it had c

IF ROBBERY WAS ONLY MOTIVE - WHY MURDER THESE OLD FARMERS?
From: "brighteyed" <brighteyed@ntlworld.com>

Elderly farm couple slain in cold blood
September 22 2002 at 10:00PM   The Star
By Caiphus Kgosana and Chimaimba Banda

If robbery was their motive, then why did the intruders murder his elderly
parents? This was the question vexing a distraught Brian Lewis, whose parents George,
77, and Albertina, 75, were murdered on their farm outside Witbank on
Saturday.
The robbers shot Albertina once. Her husband, who scuffled with the killers,
was stabbed with a sharp object. 'They were senior citizens who could not put up a fight against the robbers'

The robbers fled in the couple's white bakkie with a .32-calibre revolver.
The bakkie was later found abandoned.
"I don't understand. If the motive was robbery, then why did they kill my
parents? They were senior citizens who could not put up a fight against the
robbers," Brian said. The couple have become the latest victims of farm violence, which has
 gripped Mpumalanga and Gauteng.

The trend has become so worrying that Agri-SA has renewed calls for a
referendum on reintroducing the death penalty.

The group was to hold an urgent meeting with the government and the police
 on Monday.P
olice claim that  attacks on farms and smallholdings have escalated since
the beginning of last year - although no reliable statistics exist for this, since the police do not release all the known facts to the news media. The police claims that in the past six months, about 30 farmers have been killed and 122 injured during 224 attacks, for which 131 suspects have been arrested.

The unverifiable police statistics show that Mpumalanga, where the Lewis couple were murdered,
is said to have the highest number of violent farm attacks - 55 incidents were  recorded in which five people were killed and 23 people injured. Police claim that they have arrested 26 people in connection with the attacks but it is not known how many people were convicted and jailed.

Gauteng has the second highest number of violent farm attacks, recording 48 "incidents" in which five people were killed

Rhetoric of blame is now a white lie (AFRICA, HEAL THYSELF)
The Daily Telegraph ^ | September 3, 2002 | Tim Butcher
"I remember Africa in the 1960s, everyone was filled with high expectations after independence. Forty years on, Africa is a series of kleptocracies, many worse off than they were under colonial rule. Almost all of the common people in relative worse shape to the rest of the world than they were before independence. Africans after 40 years have no one to blame but their own leadership for their problems. The leaders want to deflect blame to the West. The West's not buying it anymore..."

Hah, if it weren't for Westerners (the white man), Africa's population would be about 150,000,000 instead of 750,000,000. Sure, the white man should pull out. In return, we should take all our technology and medicines with us. Good luck fighting AIDS down there in southern Africa! :)

If it weren't for the white man bringing civilization to Africa, they'd still be swinging on jungle vines in the central area, marathoning across the savanna in southern Africa and humping camels across the Sahara desert.

Meant to flag you earlier. I'm wondering if I shouldn't make a habit of posting these e-letters... you certainly won't find these topics discussed on the networks- it doesn't fit their happy-talk about Africa, so they just won't mention it at all...

Tunis - Libya's leader, Muammar Gaddafi, has urged Africans to drive white people out of the continent and make them pay compensation for their exploitation of it.

OK Mo, it's a deal. All white Africans can come to the US and Britain, we need more productive citizens immigrating to our shores instead of the usual rabble.

Our compensation will be as follows: To compensate Africa for the slaves that were brought from our shores, we will return all descendents of those slaves to your continent. You will be expected to provide transportation of course, since we already paid their way over here. You'll have to check the going prices for slaves in Sudan in order to determine the actual value of such compensation.

After that, we'll stay out of Africa as long as you all stay IN there. After you've resorted to cannibalism, and reduced the population to the carrying capacity of the land, perhaps there will be enough left for you to start all over in the stone ages again.

It shouldn't be long. They gave us AIDS and the Ebola virus.

Two exquisite, little inconveniences. The next one should be a real pisser.

Maybe a virus that creates snakes in your stomach and the only way out for them is south. :^()

SunStar, a FReeper has urged Americans to drive illegal Muslim people out of the United States because "their presence is unlawful" and "make them pay compensation for attempting to subvert American society." He also said Americans should rid themselves of the Muslim's foreign and homicidal legacy, including radical mosques because they "cannot be allowed to continue promoting the death of America".
