oose meets maker instead of meeting mate
A moose being moved to a zoo in Norway has been mistakenly put down.
Martin the moose was making a routine trip from a wildlife park to the zoo in Bardu to mate with Helga.
He escaped from his transporter on the way and was spotted wandering on the road.
Local wildlife authorities and police thought they had a wild animal who'd been hit by a car, and after Martin put his head on the police car's windscreen, officials decided to put him to sleep.
The Aftenposten said the moose was then put in a trailer and returned to his former home where he was recognised by staff.
His handlers were then contacted to be told they had lost their moose.

Norwegian moose like cars. I mean they really like cars. Of course, maybe the cops didn't want Martin taking a dump on the hood when the car wouldn't put out for him...
