Thanks, groanup. I woke up this morning after a nightmarish dream that I was living in a 'nannie republic' only to learn that I still must be dreaming.

(Somebody puh-lease throw a bucket of ice on me)

You said:

"Government has overstepped in many ways"

Lemme count the ways:

They're stealing our water, our farmlands and cattle
Away from the din of the cities' loud rattle
They think we're alone, with no voice to be heard
But someday they'll learn we're not part of the herd

When the price of a loaf goes over the line
And taxes consuming what's yours and what's mine
When all of the laws are selectively 'lawyered'
Look for branch and a taught-swinging halyard.

Whulp, gotta put all that on hold for a while and focus on a more violent breed of enemy that is upon us. If it comes to pass that the terrorists will begin visiting our neighborhoods, the only way we are going to resolve that is for everyone to carry their own 'anti-terror tools.' Time for the governors to alert the Citizens to prepare for combat in their own neighborhoods. Time to open the public armories. Time for the sheriff's to get busy and deputize the whole county - especially all the vets, the hunters, and other gun-handlers. And yes, it's time to set aside all gun laws. Don't want my own government to mistakenly shoot me as a terrorist. ;-)

I've mentioned that before, but think it needs to be repeated. Even if pre-mature, best to get used to the idea.

I guess if you try to open up the public armory the governor might get the wrong idea and consider you a terrorist. The rulling terrorists have to be dealt with, in order for the people (the militia) to properly arm and defend themselves against foreign terrorists.

I used the phrase, 'public armory,' to refer to arms already secured by the people -- those not stored in national guard armories. The national guard armories are not public. However, I would expect if there were extra weapons stored there, they would be issued to the sheriff who would distribute them. Wouldn't want any one lacking a weapon for lack of the price of one. "For lack of a nail, the kingdom was lost,'" seems to fit.

But that was only a side-bar to my topic. Any comment on the logic of the main topic? Thanks for the reply, TERMINATTOR.

I may melt mine down, but it will be from putting too many rounds through it when someone tries to confiscate it!

COB1, cool pieces like that wouldn't melt. Welcome to the People's Enumerated Rights Club -- PERC, that is. One of the 'perc's' of Citizenship is the absolute right to self-defense.

You got it right! The RKBA is an inalienable right, end of story. Anything, anyone, anytime. The sad fact is OUR government thinks they have the right to RKBA as they see fit, and we don't. They've got it exactly bass akwards!

Roger that! To "promote the general welfare" includes making sure there are no restrictions on my right to protect my general welfare at the moment of mortal attack..

If you are dead you can't exercise any of the other rights to which you are naturally entitled and, as you say, are deprived of your life, liberty and pursuit of happiness.

"If you're killed, you've lost a very important part of your life," -- Brooke Shields, during an interview to become spokesperson for federal anti-smoking campaign.

A very apt acronym: F.A.S.C.ists
