Horrified Visitors See Bears Kill Zoo Keeper
October 01, 2002 09:01 AM ET
DHAKA, Bangladesh (Reuters) - A pair of black bears at a Bangladesh zoo turned on their long-time keeper and killed him in front of dozens of horrified witnesses.
Officials at Dhaka's Mirpur Zoo said keeper Ismail Hawlader entered the cage Monday afternoon to feed the bears, as he had done hundreds of times before.
"Ismail had been feeding the bears for years. They were friendly and developed a loving relationship," one zoo official said.
"But suddenly the bears turned violent and attacked the keeper. They badly mauled Ismail, severely injured him. He was declared dead after being taking to hospital," he said.
Witnesses told reporters Ismail was crying out for help while being attacked.
Dozens of zoo workers and visitors gathered around the cage, but no one dared pull him out, one witness said.
There was no immediate word on the fate of the bears.

Uh, contrary to what is depiected in Hanna-Barbarra cartoons and by nature loving romanticists, bears don't develop loving rlationships.

"Ismail had been feeding the bears for years. They were friendly and developed a loving relationship,"Reminds me of an incident in New York a few years ago, Some guy was strangled to death by his pet snake. The mother of the dead guy was reported to have stated that "my son trusted that snake".
I'm not kidding.

Apparently even the bears are terrorists in Muslim countries...Well, I don't wish any ill will on this guy, but I think he developed a terminal case of complacency. I could say something else that is very un PC, but I won't.

Isn't nature wonderful?
At least that what granola-overdosing environmentalists tell us all the time.

In my bible it says 2 bears killed 50 people. 12 people trying to help would have been pointless.
