We haven't been evacuated, and that's what I'm worried about. Traffic on the I-10, as I watch from my office, is flowing in and out fine. Hardly anyone is leaving. So if it does hit here, which I hope it doesn't, a lot of people will be S.O.L.

Just an update from Jasper, Texas. We're on evac notice if it gets bad tomorrow. Counties to the South have already been evacuated, and the refugees hit Jasper like a storm of their own on their way out. Supermarket shelves are empty, no batteries or flashlights to be found anywhere, and one gas station has already run dry.
Will post more as it happens.

I'm praying it doesn't hit New Orleans. Hardly anyone here is leaving; my office is planned to be opened on Friday. That's nuts... if Lili keeps turning ya'll are going to be in big trouble. Find a good heavy duty truck and get the H#!! out of there

I guess a hurricane might move towards warmer water rather than cooler? Hurricanes move where the upper-level winds steer them.

Don't wait to be told to leave. Just get home, pack a bag, and drive north.

One can nver tell where the NE corner will slam at this juncture. It looks to be West Central Louisiana coast but stranger turns have happened.

Drive up I-55 north to Wesson MS. This school has turned their Gym into a shelter from what I hear (phone numbers to call to check/etc...)

the storm is already due south of new orleans, it would be very unlikely that a full northern turn would occur on a dime.
new orleans should experience around 30-40mph winds and heavy rain.

We have been begging in multiple posts for the Hurricane Lili threads to be consolidated, with no response yet.
We are in a crisis situation and would appreciate that FreeRepublic would help in the information gathering.
Please consolidate all threads, please, and now?

Yep....the Richileu Apartments....great read for potential Hurricane Partiers.....one survivor found.....washed "ashore" 12 miles inland from the apartments on the beach.
Most folks don't realize how shallow the Mississippi Sound is. You can walk out there for a mile or so. That was an incredible surge...24 foot with 10 foot seas on top of that minimum.
Camille did it for me as a young 12 year old. I would never ever ride out a major storm if I could help it within 10 miles of any coastline unless I was in a cave on high ground.

The Weather Channel is showing the upper clouds that are already ashore are starting to make a pretty sharp turn to the NE. "The storm 'should' follow those clouds."

Check post 130 re: your family should they decide to evac.

Do you have a link to that radar info? KLIX? where is that?
The local radar I get here comes from Galveston.
-Thanks-
Hmmm. . . another hurricane thread.
