As you can imagine, we were hoping for landfall east of here, but it was nothing personal! You know how it is for those of us in the hurricane-prone regions. We pray we get to dodge the bullet, fully realizing that means someone else will have to take it. It all averages out in the end, I suppose.

My cousin is in Slidell. What do you know about things there?

Just starting to rain now in North Central LA. We've got evacuation centers loaded full of people in Shreveport and Bossier. There are still beds available in Minden, but filling fast. TV showed a shot of I-49 bumper to bumper.

Oh no! I just didn't know what that image meant. It looked like a slab of cheese with a piece coming out and then going back in. Plus my brain is going downhill fast from being up all night. Just didn't get it and was curious. Thanks for the explanation!

Looks like the ferry cam is out, but the Cresent City connection bridge is still working. For awhile there you couldn't even see the bridge.

Looks like its about to go ashore south of Intercoastal City, which will likely see the brunt of the storm surge.
