Some Californian leaders, especially Diane Feinstein, seem to have a non-stop interest in mounting an attack against discussing abortions, even partial birth abortions.
Feinstein singlehandedly stopped discussion of a ban on partial birth abortions.
[Partial Birth] Abortion Ban Stalled AgainSeptember 30, 2002
By David Brody, Washington, D.C., correspondentA California senator single-handedly blocked a move last week to bring up the partial-birth abortion ban for a vote.
It looks like a bill to ban the gruesome procedure of partial-birth abortion will not make it to the U.S. Senate floor this session. Sen. Rick Santorum, R-Pa., last week tried to bring the legislation up for a vote, but under the "unanimous consent" agreement all 100 senators must agree to the motion and Sen. Diane Feinstein objected.
Oops, I shouldn't say Feinstein is against all discussion of abortions. She'd probably be very happy to allow discussion an increase in federal funding of abortions.
