I live on the coast in Southern California and have to deal with the flying advertisements. They are generally quite annoying, not just from the standpoint of the visual, but the planes that drag them make a huge racket and are flying very low. Conversation stops when they fly over as you can't hear anything else.
As for the pro-life ads, I saw them a few times over the summer. They are very, very disturbing. My child was upset as they were extremely large graphic photos. They are not the kind of thing my 4-year old needs to be exposed to. I felt that in their zeal to push their pro-life family value they were trashing several other family values. It was inappropriate to say the least.

But it would be ALL worth it if it grips a some pregnant woman's heart and she saves the life of her baby!!

they were trashing several other family valuesSince you are pro-life but also sensitive to harm you feel the banners might cause, you would be the right person to answer these questions.
Which family values do you think the banners were trashing?
Do you have any suggestions for anti-abortion banners that would explain what "happens" to the baby, but not offend viewers?

Look at the absolute hypocrisy of the liberals. They attempt to ban the graphic and shocking images of abortion in order to further their agenda, yet if we complain about open, graphic and disgusting behavior of the gay and lesbian community we are accused of being homophobic.
Not far from where I live you will see on any given day behavior of this type, (groping, open displays of affection, cross dressing). And I live in fly-over country.
Granted, it's probably not the best of things for kids to be exposed to but you could use it as a teaching opportunity. Explain it at the level of the child and in context with your beliefs and faith.
I'll agree that this kind of abortion protest is toward the extreme side, sometimes an extreme point needs to be made.
It would be nice to expect that if we were going out into a public venue to see a level of common decency and courtesy but the liberals and the, "you must accept my lifestyle" crowd have destroyed that.

However, it is unAMERICAN to nix free speech - however inappropriate YOU may think it is.

I go to Huntington Beach frequently and have seen the planes fly over all the time, never were they loud enough to disrupt a conversation. Either you are flayt out lieng or your hearing aid is adjusted way to high. Which is it ?

They are disturbing also because they depict what we accept with indifference. How are we different from the good citzens of Dachau, who ignored the sights and smells that came from that place. We have reduced the issue to the academic and then resent those who show it for what it reall is? We have the "right" to ignore it, to be sure, but should we?
