She is absolutely guranteed to run. And she could win. Republicans will not know how to run against her. They will keep quiet on the scandals and try to be nice. It will backfire.

pushes through the most reactionary agenda since the Congress of Vienna, packing the courts with young right-wingers opposed to abortion and all regulations. Congress, too, gets carried away with an ultra-conservative agenda

Yes, this will happen...but because Bush is at the helm it will be done with class and taste, and America will be all for it.

Gonna be fun to watch.

Will spend every last minute working for her defeat and would expect I would have a lot of company. This is not the Nicholson RNC we are dealing with now.

The new and improved RNC will be more than ready to take her on in 2008! Not going to be a cakewalk for her and she is not going to get elected.

All of her words and deeds will come back to haunt her for the 2008 run! And I intend to be on board make that happen!

Hopefully by then the democratic party will be an illegal organization, banned, its leaders in jail or facing people's justice, its members in hiding or on the run.

Does this mean that Hillary does not believe that Al Gore will be a two term president after he wins in 2004?

Of course all of this overlooks the fact that she also has no personality and that she is a TERRIBLE speaker. But, then again, all those RATS did vote for Gore.

So let's see...in Ms. Dowd's opinion...Hillary is destined be the first woman President, merely because she's a cold-hearted and nasty B*tch ???

In a column "Can Hillary Upgrade?" devoted to the proposition that American males are "biologically" unsuited to hold political office or leadership positions, Miss Dowd propounds a solution: elect a women with an ample supply of the testosterone the males she cites (Torricelli, Andrew Coumo, Tom Daschle, and Ari Fleischer) have been shown to lack.

Maureen, Maureen, you dear, deluded old hack...

I'm sure this is going to come out all wrong, but it's just an observation... I'm sure the Democrats can come up with a lot of women more masculine than Andrew Coumo or Tom Daschle, if that's really what you think the voters want.

I think you're on the wrong track, just look at how Janet Reno's "I'm more of a man than Jeb Bush" campaign worked out.

But go for it. I think the Republicans are going to just run "normal" people & see how that works.

Speak for yourself ole Dowdy. Hillary Clinton is NOT the supreme white hope for American womanhood. I have a lot of family and friends who are women and believe me...none of them look to Hillary Clinton for anything at all.

I have no problem with a woman in the White House provided it's the right woman.

I have every problem with putting another criminal Clinton anywhere near the White House.

It is disgusting that people toss this idea around merely for their own entertainment.

Sounds like a weak scenario. Mo Dowd was writing satire, and even if she wasn't she's hardly a reliable pundit. The country will move 5 degrees to the right after this election, then it will slide back over the next six years or so. If Bush picks up seats now he'll lose them in 2004 or 2006. If he doesn't win tem now, he'll win them in 2004 and lose them in 2006.

The Times may be able to convince the stupid that Karl Rove is some kind of right winger, but he's not by any means that. Every exiting President loses popularity towards the end of his term, but there won't be any swing to the left strong enough to bring Hillary Clinton to power. Everything depends on the economy, but if it's weak enough in 2008 or 2004 it will attract other and stronger candidates.

But still, Mencken (or was it W.C. Fields or P.T. Barnum) was right about not underestimating the gullibility of the American people. Having chosen Clinton twice, they might well make the same mistake again. Every ex-President looks alike to the forgetful populace after ten years, and, as with Nixon, even a failed President comes back into favor, on the grounds that he was a "fighter" not a "quitter," even if he did in fact quit -- or should have.
