Not being familiar with the DMV in that area, what is on the plate that indicates this?

Probably things like bumper stickers, such as "My kid is an honor student at [name of school]", etc.

Often people here have vanity plates that say, e.g., 5SMITHS, KIDZVN, 4BOYZ, etc.

Perhaps a vanity plate with something like "MOMSCAB" or something of the sort.
