Illegal immigration is threat to our security

Syndicated columnist Michelle Malkin is the author of a recent book entitled, "Invasion," in which she decries the inability of our government, even a year after 9-11, to control illegal immigration.

She rightly states that now, more than ever, the basically open border between Mexico and the United States represents a totally unacceptable risk to national security.

"What simply is implied is that the U.S. should no longer concern itself with controlling immigration. There is, of course, no country in the world that foolish."

This should read: There is, of course, no other country in the world that foolish.

I would like to see the governor of just one state do the following:

(1) Run sweeps in coordination with the INS for illegals. Pursue as a high profile, media frenzy policy.
(2) When the INS dumps illegals back on the street, pick them up with the state police.
(3) Buy bus tickets to Mexico, put them on the bus.
(4) Have state police on the bus to the state line.
(5) When a federal judge puts an injunction against the action, openly defy the federal judge.
(6) When the federal judge holds the governor in contempt, openly defy the federal judge. Use state police for protection.
(7) When the US marshal comes to arrest the governor for defying the federal judge, have the US marshal arrested by the state police and escorted across state line (politely).
(8) Work with neighboring governors to ensure they don't let the illegals off the bus as soon as it crosses their boarder (should be easy, they don't want them either.)
(9) Arrest illegals using existing state laws against forged documents. Put them on the bus out of state.
(10) Continue the above, ignoring any federal injunctions or federal contempt citations. Have state lawyers tie up the federal judiciary with 10th amendment issues. Keep the buses running.

My bet is, the federal agencies would be slow to stop this. The executive branch couldn't do much about it. The legislative branch wouldn't. The Judical branch could, but they could be tied up for a long time. Long enough to get the job done.

I would also use the State National Guard.

she decries the inability of our government, even a year after 9-11, to control illegal immigration.

It is not now nor has it ever been an issue of ability. The issue is desire.

How ridiculous to think that a nation that can develop the worlds highest standard of living, put a man on the moon, build skyscrapers that pierce the clouds, control nature with spectacular dams and accomplish many other wondrous things is incapable of stopping unarmed civilians from crossing a border or deport obvious illegal entrants.

I personally believe that sinister forces bent on destroying our society and our constitutional representative republic are at work. Time is short before this nation reaches the point of irreversible loss of control of its destiny. Will the true patriots rise to the occasion as others have in the past and save their country as willingly as they have done for others?

We are in the grips of 2 major political parties that do not answer to the people nor the representatives they elect. Policy on our nation’s course is made by unelected people whose faces and names are not know to us. Our sole purpose as citizens is to generate revenue and provide wo/manpower to accomplish their goals.

The days of the government working for the people have been replaced by the people working for the government.

How 'bout FreeperPETathon II?

FreeperPETathon was so cool that I'll donate $5 for FreeperPet pix from those Freepers who missed the first PETathon, up to a total of $50.

Participation is limited to the next nine (libertygirl is #1) Freepers who didn't participate in the first PETathon. $5 is per Freeper, not per picture (sorry, I wish it could be more!). Please make sure to post your reply to me so that it will be easier for me to find the pictures!

I have to leave for the evening, but will be back tomorrow.

The "ethnic panderers," ... will keep pushing their open-borders agenda. Unfortunately, they have no problem allowing this agenda to supercede the national interest.

Chief among them is George W. Bush.

The U.S. Border Patrol made 82,577 apprehensions along the southwest border in August 2002. Arizona accounted for approximately 41% of those apprehensions, followed by Texas (29%), California (24%), ans New Mexico (6%). Mexican Nationals (79,226) accounted for approximately 96% ot the total apprehensions. There were 13 apprhensions from Special Interest countries.

Southwest Border Sectors: San Diego, CA; El Centro, CA; Yuma, AZ; Tucson, AZ; El Paso, TX; Marfa, TX; Del Rio, TX; Larado, TX: McAllen, TX.

In the first 11 months of FY 2002 the U.S. Border Patrol made 861,566 apprehensions. The Border Patrol estimates that they apprehend approximately 25% of the illegal aliens crossing into the United States. That means 3 illegal aliens get through for every 1 apprehended. Independent Immigration experts estimate that the Border Patrol apprehends only 10% of the illegal aliens crossing into the United States. That means 9 illegal aliens get through for every 1 apprehension.

For this presentation, I will use the Border Patrol estimate of 25%.

If the Border Patrol has apprehended 861,566 illegal aliens in the past 11 months, the number of illegal aliens that made it into the United States undetected would be approximately 2,584,698.

This is an average of over 7,700 illegal aliens entering the United States undetected daily.

Here are some numbers to help put this into perspective:

US and Allied troops that invaded Normandy in 1944 = 250,000+

US troops that invaded Okinawa in 1945 = 550,000+

Mexico

19,473

33,141

5,147

21,465

I was reading an article from a South Texas newspaper yesterday. A lawmaker down there who is upset at those obnoxious, cheating varmints in Mexico thumbing their noses at us while stiffing us on a water treaty is intolerable. I believe the article said that Bush, instead of aiming missiles at Iraq, should aim them at Mexico instead, since Mexico has done a helluva lot more damage to the U.S. than Iraq ever has. I agree. They are invading us with hostile intent, and they need to be dealt with once and for all.

The reality is that the border not only remains a relatively easy entry area, natural dangers aside, for all Latin Americans, but indeed also the most exploitable for entry by would-be terrorists...
...who just happen to be very similar in appearance and hard to distinguish or differentiate from other native Latin Americans.

Bump to #20. For this immigration reason alone, Bush hasn't seen the total interest in Iraq as expected. We are being infested from the south, and Bush does nothing, but his brother Jeb did marry a Mexican.

I don't believe any Iraqis plowed into the WTC in 767's. I don't believe any Iraqi gangsters are raping and killing nuns, slitting bus driver's throats, or doing drive-bys in L.A. and Phoenix. Going after Iraq while leaving our borders wide open is more than a bit nutty. What's wrong with this picture?

We are being infested from the south, and Bush does nothing, but his brother Jeb did marry a Mexican.

Bush must not want to serve another term. We are as vulnerable now as we were before 9/11. It seems to me that somebody isn't getting the job done.

If anyone can explain this refusal to me I'll be indebted to them. I've voted Republican all my life but I have come to the point where I can't stand any incumbaent who isn't working 360 degrees, 24/7 for America.

Too the best of my knowledge, no. One was a green card holder and as far as I can tell, the rest were citizens.

All were of Mexican/Latino heritage.

Oh, they are very aware of this, the problem is that this President seems to be for open borders and for the decriminalization of illegal aliens. This became very clear once he started giving speeches in Spanish...Pathetic pandering at America's expense. The supporters of this administration will ignore this and hope it wont get much attention, but they are wrong.

A couple of months ago I challenged Freepers to give up some vacation time and go to the border and stand a watch. I was met with total silence.

There are several groups out there, Ranch Rescue among them who are actively doing something about our border. They need mostly manpower, and of course money.

This is something that an individual citizen can do to have a direct and immediate effect on this problem without going through the political sewer to get there. Besides it could be fun, and a very enriching experience for everyone.

Maybe a local ranch could operate like a 'dude' ranch. The difference being, that the vacationers help with border patrol and maybe a discounted fee for staying/helping?

Good idea. The problem is that with the limited participation and funding they have to concentrate on the basics.

These are good Americans, and they deserve our support.
