I just have one question for Angels' fans: What's the deal with that "rally monkey"?

The Rally Monkey looms monstrously large over a defenseless New York skyline, brandishing a helpless Senator Clinton above newly conquered territory.

After the Halo's meltdown in 1995, blowing an 11 game lead to the Mariners and forcing a one game playoff, which was lost, it started with a quote from Tim Salmon;

"Sometime, it'd be good to get this monkey off our backs."

It was continued by some diehards that started bringing stuffed monkeys to the games in 1996, and waving them around when the Angels were behind.

By 2000, the "Rally Monkeys" were firmly entrenched at Edison Field, even being a give away that season.

Angels in FIVE. The Twins will NOT
SPANK OUR MONKEY!!!!
