The National Council of Churches is attacking Jerry Falwells stance on 60 minutes. Please email him and support him through all news outlets and at his Liberty University Site.
Christians and Jews are under enormous attacks worldwide, and it is time we all unite with one voice.
God Bless America! Ops4

While I have no clue what the argument is about and have never been a great fan of Falwell, anyone who cheeses off the NCoC is OK by me.

I don't like him since he blamed the attack on America 'for our sins'.
I don't see why he thinks Islam is evil. He agrees with them that God allowed the arabs to kill us for our sins.

I never have liked Falwell much, but if the National Council of Churches doesn't like him, that's a huge point in his favor.

What, only twenty two exclaimation points??
To: chookter
What he said was that God's protective hand of grace
COULD have been lifted from this country due to our moral
decline. Not too far off base.

You're talking about the sandwich, right? Because he does look awfully tasty, like he has a cream-filled center.

COULD have been lifted from this country due to our moral decline. Not too far off base. Waaaaay off base. If you head down that road, you'll soon have to admit that somehow Islam's war on us is 'holy'--because it was inspired by God to punish us. We are the most Christian nation in the world, so let's not start guessing at God's thoughts and reasons on this one.

Falwell should retire from the public eye. He is an embarrassment every time he opens his mouth. I for one am tired of the press passing this bozo off as the embodiment of conservative views.
Have a nice retirement Jerry!

Right you are.
Falwell blamed us for 9/11 rather than the bad guys....and his little buddy Robertson agreed.
Forget them both.

You have spoken a short and to the point response. As truthful and wise it is, I'm afraid there are those that will never understand. Remember? They can not see and they have eyes. They can not hear and they have ears. He was definetly not speaking to the handicapped.
Sad isn't it.

Falwell is a power-hungry publicity whore. In other words, I consider him to be just another Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton...

There is a difference between God's punishment and His not protecting us or blessing us because of our sin. Falwell never said God caused or blessed or was pleased with the events of 9/11 because of our sin (and no doubt Osama and company will go straight to Hell). Falwell merely said that God stepped aside from protecting us and allowed the evil intent of others to succeed.
Many times in the OT when the Israelis were sinful God allowed their enemies to succeed. He did not protect them until they turned from their sin. It is basic Christian (or Jewish even) doctrine. Nothing extreme at all.
The Bible teaches that unless God watch the city, the night watchman watches in vain. If you want, I can find that verse and it's exact wording.

He is an embarrassment every time he opens his mouth. Does that mean you disagree with Falwell's position that Mohammad was a terrorist and that Islam is a cult of death?
