Oprah has done what the networks denied President Bush. She has reached the American public with the case for war on Iraq, now rather than later. West Coasters..catch Oprah, your jaw will drop!

You know it was Oprah who got Dubya elected, don't you? She's a very reasonable and conservative person at heart, certainly no Donohue.
To: KsSunflower
Well, I guess it is a done deal. The war is on. Soccer moms country wide will be hawkin' it up from here on out.

This is not some kind of joke, is it?
If it's not, more people watch Oprah that those alphabet networks that refused to air President Bush's case against Iraq.

Oprah has on today, the guy who wrote the book, "The Growing Storm"? or something like that. Anyway, he and an Iraqi man are on and have changed the minds of the audience. A woman from Germany who came here 30 years ago, was practically in tears as she implored Americans that we have freedom and that the Iraqi people deserve the same.
It was absolutely incredible...anyone else catch the show? The tide will turn!
Like her or not, Oprah has influence over the average American. Look what she does for book sales. This is huge!
To: NEWwoman
This is no joke. It's one of the most compeling and effective presentations of the case against Saddam Hussein that I've seen to date.

OMG they finally did it. Those crazies at The Man Show kidnapped Oprah and replaced her with Jimmy Kimmel in drag. Those skits were just a warmn up!
At least that's the only logical explanaition I can come up with.

Maybe, because I seriously can hardly believe what I am seeing.
I saw the topic and almost changed the channel...then as the show began to unfold, I was almost in tears. She has knocked one out of the park!

I don't watch daytime television (since I work during the day.) And it has such a bad rep: Jerry Springer and all.
But this news causes me to want to watch Oprah. It would be interesting to see a transcript or rebroadcast.

I used to like Oprah. Anyway, this is good news. No one WANTS war. But who prefers esculating terrorism while we wait for these thugs to obtain weapons of mass destruction? (other than Hollywood and some of the 'rat party)
To: KsSunflower
There it is! It's that whirly feeling of unreality again.
I gotta go lie down...
To: NEWwoman
Catch it..you won't be sorry! Can anyone post a link, I am html challenged...We have to give positive feedback on this show.
We always are quick around here to rip someone, we now need to step up to the plate and give credit where credit is due.
To: mewzilla
She must have pods in her cellar.
Good one. Wonder how many will catch that...

OK I don't really hate Oprah, she's a pretty smart broad, and at least she walks the walk (she donates a LOT of money to charity). Anyway, us Chicago kids gotta stick together.
Pretty shocking though.

Oprah struck me as one of those RATIONAL moderates - at least what I heard of her. She's got influence, as that book club shows. If this went out to however many households - and people DO watch that show - then this is gonna be BIG, especially if Senator KKK (aka Robert Byrd) holds up the vote.
This is not gonna be fun for the anti-war "peace at any price" crowd...

I just went over to Oprah to read the comments at the message board about this show. The lefties are pissed off big time. "This show was pure propoganda", "this show was so biased", "If you are going to do a show like this at least offer both sides" and on and on and on....
Wow, am I impressed.....

A lady in the audience made a comment to the effect that there were Iraq problems with Bush 1, then no problems with Clinton, and now Bush again and more problems.
OPRAH SAID..."So you think it's a Bush thing? Don't you think that the problems were there with Clinton, he just looked the other way?"
No, kidding!!

Thanks Dog, I'm on my way to Oprah!

here is the latest weather report from hell
To: KsSunflower
A woman from Germany who came here 30 years ago, was practically in tears as she implored Americans that we have freedom and that the Iraqi people deserve the same. As admirable as those beliefs may be, that is not the reason we are going after Iraq. It is because Iraq is a threat to the US, it has nothing to do with the kind of government they have. If Saddam only brutalized his own people, the US wouldn't do a thing about it. It is only because he is a threat to us, that we are forced to take action. If the next Iraqi leader is a dictator who is friendly to the US, the government will not care one whit. We restored the Emir of Kuwait, and Kuwait isn't a democracy.

ROFLMBO Okay. For one week I will buy from her sponsors, but that's ALL. Unless of course she says something nasty against Harry Belafonte.
To: KsSunflower
WOW, of course the better answer would have been "then why did Clinton keep bombing them?"
But what the hell, her answer rocked too.

I'm so glad you started this thread. I take back just about everything bad I've ever said about her. I can't believe it. I never watch her, but I wanted to see what she was going to say. To my unending surprise, the guests she had on laid out the President's case perfectly.
To: KsSunflower
I'm a conservative male and I like watching Oprah. Forced into it at first by my girlfriend, I find her show pretty good.
Every time I hear a conservative talk about the "Oprahfication" of America I wonder if they've every watched the show (I highly doubt Rush does, and he uses that phrase all the time.) She just talks about the issues and brings people on to talk about them. There isn't a sobbing "Woe is me" on there but rather a constant refrain of that you have to clean up your own life.

I watched some of Oprah's tributes to the families of 9/11 victims and I was so impressed with her heartfelt compassion for everyone, particularly the children.

I heard that too, and I let out a yelp so loud that my toddler came running to see what was wrong with her mama! =)

You know it was Oprah who got Dubya elected, don't you?
On one of my sick days, I did channel surf over to Oprah's show.
She was having Chris Rock back on for a return appearance.
IIRC correctly, they rolled some tape from his last appearance and he was
(kindly) ragging on Oprah because "you know you got Dubya elected, girl!".
And then they came back to Rock (on the present show) and he said "Dubya has done a
great job since 9-11"...and he said a few other positive things about Dubya.
I just about freaked out...thought I'd had a stroke.
Good thing I won't see this current show without this warning...I might have had a heart attack.

He had a man on who discussed that and explained how there is no other leader, even of Iran and the others in the "Axis of Evil" who are lead by a man such as Saddam. That was all covered.
However, the Iraqi man made a compelling case for the fact that the people of Iraqi support this also. He said that he has met not one general in the Iraqi army who would want to die for Saddam.
