"Gun control advocates"
How about a few good people who live in the real world who are also concerned who just might actually be realized as "Criminal Control Advocates"...?

CNN had a segment this evening, that could have been written by Sarah Brady. Big bad guns are owned by big bad people.

Gun control advocates say police might have caught the sniper in the Washington, D.C., area by now if a Maryland gun law applied to rifles.OMG!!!!!!!! The ignorance of this statement is unbelievable.
Yes, everyone knows that ONLY law abiding citizens that register their guns with the state are the ones that would commit such heinous crimes. You never know when one of us will just snap.
Thank GOD illegal guns aren't readily and easily available to the psycho killers that want them.

Gorovitz is an A-----e. For all we know, the rifle being used in the shootings is many years old, much older than the "bullet fingerprinting" crap, which is two years old.

This so called "footprint" is public relations b.s.
A good cleaning can change the footprint...

It's a good thing they have no idea a pistol could be the firearm that's being used.

Just imagine, if the sniper was using a 30.06 instead of a .223, Sarah Brady's son would be a suspect, because of a weapon his own mom bought him.
Brady reveals in her memoir that she bought James Brady Jr. a Remington .30-06, complete with scope and safety lock, at a Lewes, Del., gun shop.
From Sarah's memoirs:
"I can't describe how I felt when I picked up that rifle, loaded it into my little car and drove home," she writes. "It seemed so incredibly strange: Sarah Brady, of all people, packing heat."

United Nations
releases major study on vital role of disarmament education in promoting peace
Miguel Marín Bosch 9 October Aiming to revitalize and update past efforts to promote disarmament education, the United Nations today released a major study urging action on the issue by a wide range of players on the international scene, from global groups to religious leaders.
"There has never been a greater need for education in the areas of disarmament and non-proliferation, especially with regard to weapons of mass destruction, but also in the field of small arms and international terrorism," states the report, which was prepared by a Group of Governmental Experts appointed by Secretary-General Kofi Annan. "The disarmament and non-proliferation education challenge is substantial and requires both immediate and sustained practical efforts by national governments, international organizations and civil society."
The report contains 34 recommendations for action by all of these groups, ranging from the creation of education modules, resource guides and online programmes, to the establishment of peace museums and peace parks.
The Chairman of the Expert Group, Mexico's Under Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Miguel Marín Bosch, told reporters today that the study would serve to heighten the UN's coordinating role in promoting disarmament education, and would prompt governments to designate focal points to galvanize the input of all players.
Illustrating the importance of bringing this type of education to the grass-roots, he said, "Just think of what a seven- or eight-year old knows about the environment, or a 15- or 20-year old - it's miles and miles away from what he knows or she knows on disarmament and nuclear weapons and small arms." The study's recommendations aim to reverse this trend, he added.

This 'fingerprint' misnomer rates with cop killer bullets and plastic guns as one of the most widely reported lies related to firearms. Gun control groups know that the microscopic impressions and scratches will not remain constant, even through just a few shots. The only reason they promote this system is to register owners.

also a Tarot card Police interviewed the proprietor of a shop that sells Tarot packs and other popular games. He was apparently asked if anyone suspicious-looking had recently bought a Tarot pack. His comment: do they think I would notice a guy in full camo carrying a rifle coming into the store?
