It's a bit late here on the east coast, right here in the sniping state of Merryland. But that comment above left me laffing because darn if that doesn't seem to be the assertion.
Though when you think about it, all of the famous snipers were white males. Not that I know of a single famous sniper but the movies, you know.
It's been rainy all day here in Merryland. I knew as soon as I awoke this morning that there would be no shootings today. I knew it in my bones. Which means I've been living too long here in sniper alley and have oddly formed a sort of communication with the killer.
Today as I rounded the bend to my house I noted a big white cube truck parked a few houses down from mine. I immediately decided I would get directly in front of my car upon exit. The idea was that the car would provide protection while I eyed up this unusual truck in my neighborhood, deciding if it was a bonafide delivery vehicle or just what was up.
So I stood in front of the car but realized to my chagrin that the entire upper torso of my body was still completely unprotected and subject to sniper fire. I then crouched down in front of the car's grill and pretended to be petting my dog eager to greet me but still on the other side of the fence. I heard the cube truck start up so I remain crouched until it passed by. The dog thought I was nuts because why don't I come into the yard already and stop this nonsense of trying to pet a dog head through a chain link fence.
Yeah I felt a little silly but ponder now why. Of course it's only us citizens being targeted, citizens who carry this country on our backs, mowing our lawns, going to work, tanking up on gas for the next day's commute. And like 9/11, we are once again the soldiers in this war yet have no proper training.
The politicians are having some fun what with Governor Spendenning calling the perp a "coward" which left us all, um, underwhelmed.
Ah well......remember this...no snipers on rainy days. You are free to roam around now.
