As republicmouse' article said, "but the state does specify harsher penalties for bias crimes". Adding a few years to a death penalty sentence is, well..., a silly concept, so stop suggesting it, OK?

There is no harsher penalty than death (though some say that life without parole might be), so stop being a knucklehead, I mean it.

Now you're just being plain obtuse. To the contrary, unnecessarily bringing up irrelevant issues such as the race / hate crime question can open the prosecution up to errors that might cause an otherwise solid verdict to be successfully appealed.

Looks like the DA has a solid death penalty case here - why not allow her to try it without the attendant irrelevancies, and we'll all rejoice at a guilty verdict, OK?

The jury that will hear evidence in the capital murder trial of brothers Jonathan and Reginald Carr includes seven men and five women from Wichita and its suburbs. A person can serve on a jury even if they presume guilt, as long as they say they can decide the case from the evidence. Here is a summary of the panel:

Juror No. 1 is a 23-year-old white male carpenter who neither favors nor opposes the death penalty.

Juror No. 2 is a 59-year old black male executive who strongly favors the death penalty.

The ones to whom you refer want to play the race card where one is unnecessary, and where doing so could even harm the prosecution's case.

American Renaissance' article could lead one to believe that they actually wanted the DA to proceed in a manner that could have tainted the jury pool (or at least give the defense the opportunity to argue that). I certainly see no reason to give the defense any openings like that, but they do, for some reason....

I'll be happy when the guilty verdict & death penalty come in. I'm not so sure we can say the same for republicman and his fellow useful idiots.

Beyond all the fancy intellectual philosophies today's politics are ethnic politics and the people the Left call "white" are for all practical purposes attending a gunfight with a butterknife. Any crime of violence is a hate crime. But you must live with your head in the sand or have not read what I have.
When we designate crimes by race it is ok as long as is white on someother race but when reversed we want to ignor it. Well I say to you it is time to call it what it is for all or none at all. District Attorney Nola Foulston reportedly said she would not charge the suspects with committing hate crimes because she believes the murders were motivated by robbery and not racial hatred.

Black people are the most racist people in America today.

This Kansas case is a clear example of a hate crime. But whites are victims of far more subtle bias everyday from the millions of black workers nationwide, from mall cashiers to government bureacrats (overwhelmingly black in most urban areas).

I was in Home Depot the other day, and every single employee was black. No one knew anything about anything, or where anything was ("I dont know, not my department"). That is, unless the customer was black...after I was rebuffed, I saw the same employee helping black customers left and right ("Oh I'm sorry, I'm not sure, but let me take you to someone who knows...please come with me"). Only the white manager would help me find what I needed. My wife routinely has problems returning items in stores, even with receipts, and has to work her way through 3-4 black women before she gets a white supervisor who will actually honor the store's policy. She complains as much as she can, but it is no use. Swimming against the tide.

Yet whites in Maine, in Kansas and all across the country continue to pretend that blacks are victims of racism, and allow themselves to feel guilty and be "punished". The minute whites say "Enough!" and reject the fiction of black victimhood, this madness will come to an end and perhaps there can finally be progress in race relations.
