Indiana congressman Dan Burton, as chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Government Reform, continues to push for an explanation of allegations that foreigners were involved in the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing.
"The more, the merrier," said Burton when told of Specter's letter. "I think there ought to be senators as well as House members looking at this. We're checking everything out. We have sent a letter to the Navy to get a copy of that video that was supposedly seen by the policeman in Oklahoma City that showed John Doe No. 2 getting out of the truck."

You got that right, Dan. Not to mention a grand jury.
I, too, would like to know what DIA and the Navy have. I don't feel like looking back through my notes, but I know they lost enough people in that bombing to have really p*ssed them off. Their records might be very revealing.
My thoughts exactly- it will raise this higher into the public's awareness, and that's what needs doing.
I'd love to see that...
You're right. This is a big deal.
When President Bush took office, I was disappointed that he declined to go after the Clintons for destroying government property, stealing from the White House, handing out pardons like Snickers Minis at Halloween, and all the petty BS they pulled and continue to pull.
Had he done that, we'd have had another Lewinsky. Focusing on small stuff while the big stuff got overlooked in the "It's all about sex" frenzy. Only this time, it would have been "Bush the unelected is trying to make a name for himself at the expense of our beloved Bil'n'Hil."
The Clintons will not have the opportunity to howl that they're being persecuted by President Bush. He hasn't touched them (not that any self-respecting Republican would want to with anything shorter than a ten-foot pole), hasn't called their actions into question, and has let them make fools of themselves with their own rhetoric.
The vote fraud investigation in South Dakota and this will prove to be much bigger than Pardongate, Pursegate, or Zippergate.
I think I'll stock up on munchies. I have a feeling I'll be spending a lot of time on FR following the stories.
I've heard that before...
Why do I get the feeling that these pictures will be, um, "lost?"
Would love to see Bush finally get p*ssed enough at DIRTXPOTUS to start throwing Hillary's china. (If I'd been Bush 43, I'd have had her china ritually broken at the curb on Inauguration Day, all the furniture, carpets and drapes dragged out, Kennedy's desk sent to GSA for auction, and five priests from every religion come and ritually cleanse the place, with or without holy water, before I moved in, if it took a week of staying at Blair House.)
Someone needs to rain hard on Slick's calculations for Beast's future career.
That comment about the reporter's being some kind of heroine was verrrry interesting.
But wasn't OKCSubmariner banned for being a foil-hatter? What's that about?
You seem to be implying that if (a) one of the accomplices in the bombing was Iraqi, therefore (b) he was working for Saddam Hussein.
By that reasoning, one could also conclude that Nichols and McVeigh were working for Bill Clinton (in fact, some have!).
Let's first determine whether John Doe 2 is who Jayna Davis alleges, then proceed to the next step of finding out what his motives were. Considering that in both trials the prosecution was so intent on a conviction that they zeroed in on the means to exclusion of motive, there are still many unanswered questions even about McVeigh's connections.
A person's nationality is a poor indicator of his political leanings.

Our Mission
The Office of Naval Intelligence has moved beyond our history to meet todays challenges. We have organized our people, equipment, doctrine and training to better serve our maritime customers--the joint war fighters, the Department of the Navy, and the maritime intelligence requirements of national agencies and departments. ONI supports joint operational commanders with a worldwide organization and an integrated workforce of active duty, reserve, officer and enlisted and civilian professionals. At the National Maritime Intelligence Center (NMIC), ONI brings military and civilian employees into a single command to provide "one-stop shopping" for national level maritime intelligence. The NMIC also hosts the Marine Corps Intelligence Activity (MCIA) and the Coast Guard Intelligence Coordination Center (ICC) and the Naval Information Warfare Activity (NIWA).
also found the following story interesting
March 29 - April 4, 2002Mondo Washington: Manila Enveloped in Oklahoma Bombing Case by James Ridgeway Fourteen survivors and victims of the Oklahoma City bombing in April 1995 filed suit against Iraq in federal district court in Washington, D.C., last week, claiming that Iraqi officials gave money and training to Tim McVeigh and Terry Nichols. McVeigh was executed last April; Nichols, convicted of manslaughter and given a life sentence in federal court, is awaiting trial in Oklahoma state court, where survivors are determined he get a death sentence. Nearly a year after McVeighs execution, the case remains controversial. Families of victims have accused the federal government of shoddy detective work, and some even have claimed that government dicks knew from the git-go about the bombing but did nothing to prevent it, then tried to cover their asses by hiding information after the blast. Immediately after the bombing, federal lawmen focused on possible Middle Eastern terrorists, and Stephen Jones, McVeighs trial attorney, said in his book Others Unknown that his client was a patsy of Middle East interests. Others have long insisted that the mysterious "John Doe No. 2" came from somewhere in the Middle East and that two accomplices seen with McVeigh before the blast looked dark and could have been Arabs.
Jones even speculated on the possibility that Nichols was involved at some level with Osama bin Laden.Joness theory goes like this: in the 1990s, Nichols made several trips to the Philippines, once for as long as six months. Nichols always said he spent the time trying to turn up "business opportunities."In the Philippines, Jones met with an official of an intelligence service who was known only as "the Director," who coyly put him on to a guy in jail. There, Jones found Edwin Angeles, a supposed cohort of Ramzi Yousef, being held in protective custody by the Filipino police. At first, Angeles wouldnt talk, but he eventually told police in a filmed interview that he had been at a meeting in the early 1990s in Davao, on Mindanao, where he met an American who called himself "the Farmer." Angeles produced a sketch that resembled Nichols. Also at this meeting were Ramzi Yousef, Yousefs friend Abdul Hakim Muradand, and a man called Wali Khan Amin Shah. Angeles said in a statement that the group had discussed bombing activities, providing firearms, ammunition and training in making and handling bombs. All three were subsequently convicted of a plot to blow up 12 U.S. jetliners. Shortly after the Oklahoma City bombing, the feds investigated Nichols activities in the Philippines, but his ties to the Middle East were never proven. Judge Richard Matsch didnt allow Jones to introduce his Middle Eastern foray into evidence, and there the matter rested until Sept. 11 got everybody thinking again. |
