TEHRAN, Oct 13 (AFP) - A conservative Iranian prayer leader denounced the "moral depravity" of dog ownership and called on the judiciary to arrest all dogs and their owners, the reformist Etemad paper reported Sunday.
"I demand the judiciary arrest all dogs with long, medium or short legs together with their long-legged owners, otherwise I will arrest them myself", the Etemad newspaper quoted the cleric, named as Hojatoleslam Hasani, as saying at a Friday prayer sermon in the northwestern city of Urumieh.
"The abominable people in this country think that liberty means loose morals, for example men and women walk in the streets hand in hand", he added.
Depsite official diapproval of dogs, which are mostly referred to as "unclean" in Islam, dog ownership recently has been on the rise and more women are seen in public walking their dogs, particularly in northern Tehran.
In June the police banned the sale of dogs and stipulated penalties for dog walking in public, which is seen by conservatives as a sign of the corrupting influence of decadent Western culture.

It's because they're Islamofags. Like Mohammad Atta and Johnny Taliban.

I guess if I were unfortunate enough to live in Iran, I'd be in real trouble now. I'd never let anyone harm my dear dogs.

And I did nothing because it did not affect me.
Then, they came for my doggie, and I still did nothing, because it did not affect my person.
Next, they'll be after the Suni's.

A dog runs into a post office, grabs a telegram and writes "Arf arf arf arf arf arf arf arf arf". After checking the telegram the clerk goes: - There are only nine words here, for the same price you can add one more. - Uh, no, thank you, - goes the dog, - then it's not gonna make any sense.

Dog walks into a bar, sits on a stool and orders a beer. Bartender says, "We don't serve dogs here," pulls a pistol
and shoots the dog in a paw. The dog hops howling out of the bar. Next day, the dog walks into the bar wearing a ten-gallon hat and sporting a six-gun on each hip. The bar falls silent. The dog looks around and says, "I'm looking for the man who shot my paw."

From the Ask the Imam Website:
Hadhrat Abu Talha (Radhiyallaahu Ánhu) reports that Rasulullah (Sallallaaahu Álayhi Wasallam) said, "Angels do not enter a house wherein there is a dog or an animate picture. (Sahih Bukhari Hadith no. 2986)
Hadhrat Ibn Abbas (Radhiyallaahu Ánhuma) reports from Hadhrat Maimoona (Radhiyallaahu Ánha) that once Rasulullah (Sallallaaahu Álayhi Wasallam) became sad; and said that Jibra'eel (Álayhis Salaam) promised to meet him at night but did not turn up. "By Allah what has kept him back," said the Prophet (Sallallaaahu Álayhi Wasallam). Then he realised a puppy was under his bed. He ordered that the puppy be removed and the area be sprinkled with water. In the afternoon when Jibra'eel (Álayhi Salaam) came, Rasulullah (Sallallaaahu Álayhi Wasallam) enquired as to the delay. Jibra'eel (Álayhi Salaam) said that we, the group of Angels do not enter a house wherein there is a dog or pictures. (Sahih Muslim Hadith no.3928)
In the light of these Ahaadith and other narrations it is not permissible to keep dogs as pets. The household is deprived of the Mercy of Allah Taãla.
However, Jurists have stated that it is permissible to keep a dog for security purposes, farming and hunting.
The saliva of a dog is Najis (impure). if it touches the clothes or body, that portion also becomes impure and must be washed.
