But remember....Bush is really a conservative. With a conservative like Bush in office who needs liberals to fight against?

The "Death to America" wing of the democrat party WANTS the U.N. to take over. That's all there is to it.
To: oldvike
Okay, it's time for someone to take off the tinfoil and speak some truth.
It WOULD be frightening, if it were true. But it is not. The Wildlands Project is a pipe dream private (non-profit) that has nothing to do with the exercise of any governmental power and has not "gobbled up" any private property. NONE.
There is no systematic effort to place land now held by private citizens into public hands. There is an active effort to restrict private use of public lands, and most of the outcry you are hearing comes from people who suck off the government teat and make a living off of public lands at your expense. That is a far cry from the government "grabbing" private land.

WILDLANDS PROJECT: Incredible, Outrageous and a Very Real DangerSnip . . .
Private property will be confiscated, bought up, or restricted
"In the lowlands some eroding and degraded croplands now used to produce feed for livestock (in the US, livestock consume about 70% of grain production) will have to be converted to other uses." SOULE
"For instance, say you own a cattle ranch that sits astride a valley that forms a natural link between two massifs in Montana, and that is vital for a link in the system. And say that I, a stranger, show up one day and ask you to donate your ranch to a conservancy or to the state. At first you would probably think me a fool. At worst you would feel attacked, especially if I said that there would be a bill introduced into the legislature that would declare your land to be a critical habitat, thus justifying its condemnation. But if you had been a partner in an open planning process, you might be more disposed to the conservation objectives of the program, if not the means of realizing it. And it might make a big difference if I told you that I wasnt asking you to give up ranching on your land, but to consider leaving it to a conservancy after the death of your children, by which time cattle ranching in Montana would probably not be economic." SOULE This quote illustrates two of the means of acquiring private land: donation and condemnation. Purchase is the third.
"
it is reasonable to assume that ever modern humanized landscape comes at the cost of unique genes, populations, races, subspecies, species, microclimates, microhabitats, animal paths, or natural disturbances. We do not know whether a development will expropriate a favorite sunning spot of a pair of snakes
" DAVIS
Therefore greens oppose all development. In many cases, private lands will need to be acquired and added to national forests and other public lands in order to serve as effective buffers." NOSS
"
wilderness areas, and the public and private lands that envelop them must be managed as a whole in order to meet the goal of maintaining natural processes" NOSS

"As a symbol of our commitment to human dignity, the United State will return to UNESCO. This organization has been reformed and America will participate fully in its mission to advance human rights, tolerance, and learning."
President George W. Bush, Sept. 2002 speech to U.N. General Assembly

Cool - you can post a bunch of quotes. Now post something - ANYTHING - that says that the U.S. government has adopted the agenda of the Wildlands Project or that a single acre of land has been taken by condemnation or any other means to further the ends of the Wildlands Project. You can't do it. There is no evidence of it because it has not happened.

For reasons that defy common sense, some congressional Democrats insist
Okay, we can stop right there. When it comes to politics, "common sense" is often cast aside. While common-sense logic is very useful because it can usually be objectively verified, in politics, often nothing has to be verified objectively.
That is, when people on this forum and similar forums get a hold of a news article or Bill that's before congress the people on the forum can rip into it and pick it apart to objectively evaluate its merits. Despite 400+ representatives in the House of Representatives and 100 Senators in the Senate, they don't always operate in the open and behind closed doors common-sense logic is often cast aside in favor of political agenda. Even when they are in the floor of either House, they're still easily swayed to ignore common-sense logic in favor of political agenda.
I know, preaching to the choir, I know.

Sell the existing U.N. property to Donald Trump for a subway token.
Relocate the U.N. on a drifting ice floe.
Do with their unsolicited solicitations for money what we do here: feed them to the shredder.
The U.N. has universally condemned America and Israel, and supported butcher-dictator-tyrant-terrorists world-wide.
Don't need no stinkUN rat pack so described.
Lettuce roll to Baghdad and deliver a B-2 overdose to Stalin's mini-me.
