This is something that burns me up. I spend more than a little time myself picking up litter. IMHO, these people should draw jail time and heft fines at the minimum.

Many are hard at neglect making this county appear third world. One frequently sees scrap fly out of car windows and fast food containers lying in the parking lots - not to mention on our residential streets and yards.

It does make a difference!

Environmentalism isn't about your neighborhood, it is about who is in control. Environmentalists want to control the earth's resources and your behavior. Freedom is not in their plan.

So if an environmentalist litters, it is not hypocritical in a deep sense. They don't care about litter: they care about controlling your behavior and your property.

This award-winning school, in other words, proudly teaches its students about the importance of fighting global warming and the plundering of the Amazonian rain forest, but fails to instill in them the much more attainable goal of depositing used school work sheets into a trash receptacle rather than tossing them on the ground at a bus stop across from campus.

Although I agree with Medved's larger point -- one expressed without his usual condescension, for once -- I suggest he may have missed another explanation for this particular litter.

It's possible that some of the kids are so contemptuous of what's foisted on them, especially the eco-hysterical propaganda, that they are wanting to show how little they care about it by turning it into litter. If that's any part of what happened here, I applaud those kids for some practical good sense.

My own pet peeve is cigarette butts.

When I was younger, I used to get out of my car at a stoplight and flick them back in to the smoker.

What with the high taxes doubling the general pissed-offness of your average smoker, I don't do that anymore.
