Five Sniper Case Witnesses Finger Dark-Skinned 'Mid-Eastern Type'

More evidence of a possible Mid-East connection to the Beltway sniper case emerged Tuesday as police began releasing descriptions of the alleged shooter given by eyewitnesses.

According to Fox News, a top U.S. law enforcement official has revealed that three eyewitnesses to Friday's shooting in Fredricksberg, Va. described the perpetrator as a dark skinned male who looked like an "Hispanic or Mid-Eastern type." One witness to Friday's attack described the shooter as a white male.

But two eyewitnesses to Monday night's shooting in Falls Church, Va. also described the shooter as a dark-skinned male, reports Fox.

One eyewitness to Monday night's attack, Washington-area construction worker Robert Young, said he had heard a muffled gunshot and saw a white van making a getaway from the Virginia shopping center where ex-FBI agent Linda Franklin was shot dead.

Young told Fox that he was backing his truck out of his parking spot when a white Chevy Astro van with two men inside tried to turn into his lane. He said the driver appeared angry that his way was blocked and instead headed off in another direction.

"I got a good look at the guy," Young insisted, describing the driver as slightly built, short and apparently of Mid-Eastern descent.

I'm on the edge of my seat, waiting to see how this story ends. It would be very interesting if the sharp shooter ended up being Middle Eastern. Although, there was that whole thing with the bullet shell next to a tarot card that read "I am God" or something. That would be a strange symbol for a radical Muslim to use. However if the guy turned out to be Hispanic, that would be the third "weird" nationally publicized attack by a "deranged" Hispanic.... following on the tail of the Hispanic men (one in California and one in Ohio, I think it was) who tried to slit the throats of Greyhound bus drivers. Of course, I also keep hearing that Muslim extremists are easily getting across the borders from Mexico. And I came across an angry Latino website that was heavily pro-Muslim/pro-Palestinian. At this point I'm playing devil's advocate more than anything but here goes -

* People sometimes see what they want to see. If these witnesses were already convinced this was Islamofacist terrorism, they might have tricked themselves into seeing dark-skinned people.

* Could be tricks of the light.

* Dark skinned could be anything from anglos with dark tans, to mediteranean types like me, to light skinned blacks, to hispanics, to even Asians.

But you know what? As someone who has probably given himself carpel tunnel syndrome arguing that this is likely eco- or anarcho-terrorism, I'm really starting to think its the al Quada types along with just about everyone else on this forum.

Note that the New York Times, CNN, the Washington Post, etc.---the usual oh-so-PC crowd---have not mentioned the dark-skinned angle at all. The Times, in fact, today describes several speculative profiles of the shooter(s), none of which involve anyone other than an American white male.

It's too bad the five witnesses weren't familiar enough with fire arms and confident enough in our legal system to shoot the tires. I would recommend using a bow and arrows on the tires, but that apparently is being banned too.

I have been of the white psycho opinion the majority of the time, with occasional terrorist motive conjecture. With the eyewitnesses, I would flip to the middle eastern jihadist opinion were it not for the tarot card. I just don't see how that fits with the Al Queda types.

My attempted sarcasm directed at the FBI in a reply to Scalia Rules last night on another thread:

A law enforcement official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said another witness gave a description of a dark-skinned, possibly Hispanic or Middle Eastern, man in a white van.

The FBI now has all agents questioning clerks at drug stores and other businesses which sell cosmetics to find the 20-40 year angry old white male in camouflage fatigues who bought a large quantity of tanning gel and black hair dye.

I would think that traditional makeup and a wig would be more likely since these disguises could be easily and rapidly discarded to avoid detection. Snipers have been known to apply charcoal or the like to avoid detection.
