Constitutional Amendment??(Vanity)
Today | Me

Posted on 10/16/2002 8:06:14 AM PDT by The Chid

My wife is taking a U.S. Constitution class in college, and one of the papers due is a fictional Constitutional Amendment.

The Teacher is a liberal, and we're looking for ideas for an amendment that are workable, and might annoy him a bit. He said that repealing the 2nd Amendment would be a good idea, and then made some derogatory comment about Charlton Heston.

Any Ideas, FReepers?

I advocate an amendment that only property or business owners can vote. That will gag the liberal maggot.

Would help the country out too.

Mandatory gun ownership and training class for all citizens.
Don't comply, lose your right to vote.

Repeal the Wodrow Wilson amendments. Direct election of Senators, Income Tax. Call it the Restoration of the Republic Amendment.

I move for a constitutional amendment to ban the Democrats from running for federal office for the rest of the natural lifetimes of the current generation of politicians.

Repeal of the 17th Amendment for sure. It solves campaign finance reform and the NJ bait and switch issue at the same time.

How about a rewrite of the interstate commerce clause so that Congress can declare void any state law which restricts interstate commerce without giving them the power to enact any such restrictions themselves.

Write one condeming all gun-laws to date, and one that would repeal all gun laws, return to the second admendment, and add in stiff punishments for crimes committed using a firearm. Basically, expand on Regan's outlook on guns. That should really get the ole' teachers attention. Maybe even site some examples where disarmed populaces have been rounded up and executed in history.

I am with Call Jack, also add mandatory gun training for all elementary age school children,
In Virginia, to obey the law you should buy One gun a month.

Repeal the 24th Amendment (which forbids a poll tax in federal elections).

This was my first idea also. If it hads a chance of passing, it would change the face of the Government forever.

I really like this idea, and there is probably plenty of material available in the Federalist papers, etc. This is exactly how the U.S. operated for the first 80 years or so of its existence.

I would add, though, that the definition of "property" would have to be expanded so that anyone with a sizeable amount of assets would qualify.

All money appropriated by the fedral government may only be spent on clearly constitutionally mandated items, i.e military and courts. Education, healthcare, welfare, social security would have to eliminated.

Forcing an employer to become an agent of the government is a form of slavery. Government may not force employers to take any money intended for tax payments from an employee's paycheck. All taxes would have to be paid by the taxpayer at an interval determined by the congress, whether weekly, monthly, quarterly or annually.

1. Repeal the 14th amendment. Make it clear that a U.S. citizen is a person with one or more citizens as parents. If your parents are not citizens, neither are you--until naturalized.

2. Pass an amendment changing the word "person" to "citizen" throughout the document. The founders used these words pretty much interchangeably, causing no end of mischief.

3. Repeal the Sixteenth and Seventeenth Amendments.

4. Modify the Second Amendment so that there is no way the anti's can pretend it doesn't mean what it says. For example, strip the first part and have it simply begin, "The Right of the People..."

5. Maybe a new amendment specifying tarring and feathering for any government official acting in any way contrary to the constitution. Sentence to be passed by a jury of 12 ordinary citizens, chosen at random.

That oughtta do it.

P.S. Love your nick. Never game with a Chid.
