Does anyone else notice the subtle twist in the use of the term "October surprise" with respect to the Iran hostage affair and the 1980 election? I remember being told, as a Reagan volunteer, that Carter might have been working with Iran to effect a release just before the election. But, the media always reported the reverse: that REAGAN was working with Iran to DELAY the release until AFTER the election. How much sense does this latter scenarior make? To me, very little.
