Now you know where I got my words from! LOL

I think all his books are great. A friend got to attend one of his conferences in Minneapolis. Too bad he never comes out this way.

I told you I need to reread the book. Did you really read it? It was really good. Parts of it brought tears to my eyes.

I think it will help me to "turn over" my almost 13 year old son to his dad. And I stopped telling my husband he was getting too rough when they wrestled. Even when my son gets hurt and cries, he goes back for more. So I'm learning to keep my mouth shut.

Yes, I read all three books. I heard about them from my Minneapolis friend, and I asked for them as Christmas presents last year. My brother-in-law went to find "Wild at Heart" and was directed to the ROMANCE section!!!

One of these days I hope to put some of my thoughts to paper, especially on male-female relationships... but I never seem to have the time. For example, "The best way to a woman's heart is to wait patiently for her to enter yours."

"Letting go" is hard... and gets harder as they get older. I have a daughter 25 in the DC area and a son 22 in Cincinnati. The good part of "letting go" is that they can be their own persons.. and make you proud!

Eldridge talked about doing what makes you happy and what you want to do (in the good sense). I'm thinking about the part in the book where he talks about wanting to be a psycholgist and go back to school. No money to do that, think he said they prayed about it, and then a friend called to say he wanted to pay for his schooling.

All that to say...start writing. Even if you just do it for short periods.

My oldest is 16 and she is testing the limits of her freedoms. But she is a great girl and I trust her. Her friends are the kids she has grown up with at church, in the youth group now.

Speaking of which, she isn't home yet...hmmm. It's only 9:10 and she is on fall break. But I'm a worrier.
Letting go will be a little hard for me :)

I'll be praying for your daughter in DC. I didn't know you had family there. It's so hard having loved ones there right now.

Did you have your kids while younger or a little older? My nephew is 23 but my sister is younger than me!

Thanks for the encouragment! I write about 5,000 pages a year - technical stuff for work - so writing "for pleasure" is a bit hard to get into!

Yes, I have family in the DC area. I was born and raised in Loudoun County. My mom is still there. My daughter moved there 1 1/2 yrs ago and is a 4th grade teacher.

We had our first when we were 27. The family joke is that we bought our first house on Nov 15 and had our first child on Aug 16th the next year. (Talk about a "nesting" instinct!)

Just now I was looking at Amazon and saw Eldredge had written a 4th book: "Dare to Dream." I'll have to get it to read during my trip next week.

I heard a ex-cop on one of the talk shows say that it may take one or two more shootings to catch this guy

The experts have been saying this for the last two or three shootings: the perp's supposedly getting more restless but keeps getting away without leaving a clue. That's why I'm beginning to lean more towards organized terrorism...if this was just some nut or a couple of Klebolds they would have gotten busted by now.

"Dare to Dream" and tk posts "dream music" just before you said that!

My husband and I were 28 when our first was born. I had just finished my student teaching (2nd gr) and my daughter came 3 wks. later. I was almost 9 months pregnant at graduation! I looked like a maroon blimp.

The joke around here is that my daughter already graduated from college. (She has lately started to say things like PSAT's come up!)

I never taught, though, except to homeschool for awhile. Just kept having kids. I hope your daughter enjoys it.
I know teachers need lots of TLC. They have to put up with quite a bit!

Just think if you could write 5,000 pages a year for pleasure.

Some thoughts from another thread (might not be original or new but haven't seen it elsewhere to date, soo...):

The [Montgomery County] advice [to citizens] presumes the sniper tactics will never change.

(Let's see, they don't issue CC permits and they have banned hunting and are collecting all guns for ballistic fingerprinting using 4473, which means no one has either handguns or long guns. The people don't have a way to protect themselves...)

If the snipers decide to get serious, they can always have ambushers with full autos positioned by the sides of nearby freeways, away from the exits.

When the first shot is fired, the authorities immediately put roadblocks of all freeways.

Then it's easy pickings time for the terrorists...

"but one must wonder if the decision to bring in those military 'assets' for surveillance has made a difference here. "

Exactly..I thought the same thing. I pray that it's not like someone else said..where the sniper moves to a vicinity that's not using the "military assets"..

Good to get your ping. I was getting a little worried about you last p.m. given your proximity and suspicions...

I live in Florida. Fortunately, all I need to worry about is some terrorist trying to blow up the space shuttle.

Ah....sorry about that. I was ASSuming because of "md" at the start of your FReepername (note the all caps).

; )

Mighty brave of you to post that thread... I discussed your suspicions with my husband last night, including some of the other, "competitional hobby" information I found yesterday, and how the other "competitional hobby" could relate to the case. By the way, do you think his "competitional hobby" keeps him busy on the weekends, and that's why we haven't had weekend shootings so far?
