Did anybody else watch this press conference? Did you all hear the same thing I did, which was:
Questioner: You're saying the tail-light, the cream-colored Astro van, the firearm, and the description are "not credible." What DO we have, that people might look for?
Moose: Again, we will not be releasing any uncorroborated information.
Translation: We got nothin'.

I think they are witholding information so as not to show the sniper their "hand." And this is wise.
To: lainie
The sniper must be doubled over in laughter over this.
Why give a press conference to admit that they are getting nowhere?
If I were in that area, I would be carrying for sure.....

I only wish thay had withheld the tarot card and the fact that the DOD was going to supply a surveillance plane. We don't need to inform the shooter of what is being done to try and catch him. "loose lips sink ships..."

They still are harping about "rifles" while overlooking the deadliness and conceability of scoped pistols chambered for .223 rounds. Such are widely used by hunters (see handgunhunt.com) and easily could be tucked under a coat after being used to bring down human prey.
The shooter then could walk away and hop onto a municipal bus, return to his motel room to watch the "fun" on TV, etc. without being noticed. So much for white box trucks and vans, perhaps.
I have yet to hear this scenario discussed in the media. Chief Moose and associates might do well to think outside of the box (truck)....

And this is wise because showing your left hand, which substitutes for toilet paper in that part fo the world where the sniper likely comes from, is very impolite?

Could the police be putting out disinformation? Presumably the sniper watches the news to see the results of what he has done. Maybe they want him to think that they are far off track so he will keep doing the same thing and they can get him.
OTOH, Chief Moose doesn't sound too competent to me.

My guess is that because people had been told earlier to be on the lookout for a white Astro van, when this shooting happened on Monday some witness saw what he thought he was supposed to see whenever these shootings happen, only he didn't really see what he thought he saw. See?

Sadly, a person could be found with his carry weapon covered with his own blood from a wound inflicted by a single high-velocity round from out of the blue....

How much longer before the jittery cops perferate a minvan on the way to a soccer game loaded with kids?
To: lainie
The moose is on the loose: clueless but after as much face time on TV as he can get.
To: tracer
Very true, but if by chance someone were able to get a bead on the shooter and be in a position to get a shot off, and not have their weapon handy, that would be just as bad.
To: TBP
It was a .222 or a .223 or a .221, don't they have a cartridge case? The story about a guy stepping out of the van was false? The story about a AK-74 is false!
This was the most unprofessional press conference I have ever seen.
Total silence would be much more reassuring in my opinion. I pray there is not as much confusion behind the scenes?
The ATF guy was awful.

You are right. This is much worse than silence. The whole white box truck, white van thing was shakey from the start, and it's starting to come apart completely.
What you are seeing is a buch of mediocrities with over-groomed self esteem and credentials from institutions that have been dumbed down mistaking those credentials and inflated sense of self-worth for actual competency. They've got nothing. Nada. Bupkus. Nil.
Oh, and remember to turn in your guns, the police will keep you safe.

There fore we need a Timmy McVeigh to feed to the public and push our gun control agenda..
NAW... I just made this up :) and my version seems to be about as relevant as the head Moose's
To: Malesherbes
If Moose says "dis" and "dat" instead of "this" and "that" one more time I'm going to scream.
