You don't know that they already had nuclear weapons well established before billy c and jimmy c GAVE the N Korean's the information and materials necessary to build nuclear reactors.

Do you know if that dimbulb, greedy arsed, sickening, unpatriotic, slug of a human being known as bill c and his co-conspirator in the treaty deal with N Korea BOTHERED to build in safeguards such as the need to VERIFY that the N Korean's were not USING the tech for miltary weapons of mass destruction? Enquiring minds want to KNOW if billy c loved our nation enough to demand that the treaty he and jimmie devised with the N Koreans be VERIFIABLE? Do ya know? Enquiring minds and all....because in the field of NUCLEAR WEAPONRY-stuff does not JUST HAPPEN. Sit does, of course. But not weaponry.

It's hard to imagine why the US just didn't offer technology to build modern oil burning plants. Why offer dictatorships nukes? Now it's coming back to bite us in the ass. Must have been part of the Atoms for Peace program of the AEC.

If you'd bother to do some reading instead of just knee-jerking on this thing, you'd find out that the two light-water reactors we (and about a dozen other countries) were gonna build for NK were to replace ones that are produce plutonium far more quickly. To put it more bluntly, they already had nuclear reactors, more dangerous ones. It wouldn't surprise me at all if they even had the fissile material at the time the agreement was signed in 1994.

Seems the idea was on its face a good one. Problem is that the North Korean government decided to backslide and cheat, as Stalinists will. As it stands, they're not likely to get their new reactors completed unless someone (i.e. China) can rein them in.
