Ashland Shooting: Sunday Updates
Various ^ | 10-20-02 | GRRRRR

Posted on 10/20/2002 4:13:26 AM PDT by GRRRRR

The other thread is running over 2800 posts...so here's a new place to post for Sunday.

Per FOXNews, a 10am EASTERN news conference is planned. Two travelers pulled off I-95 for dinner at a Ponderosa Steak House. The Man, 37, was shot in the gut while his wife stood next to him.

Bullet has NOT been removed from the man while, after surgery, he remains in Critical but GUARDED condition, however, x-rays are expected to provide some dimensional analysis of the slug. Further surgeries may be required on the victim, according to FOX and then the bullet is likely to be recovered.

Meanwhile, the "white" box truck/van that was found with a "Shell" in it at Dulles is reported to be a 7.62 (.030'??) OLD shell and NOT expected to be part of the "Sniper Shootings".

Multiple LEA's are now in Ashland, VA located about 80 miles south of DC to begin more site investigations at first light of dawn.

Numerous witnesses in the area saw the man fall down and provided aid to the man. The man was still conscious and spoke during the rescue. According to (spit) CNN, there will be NO news conferences from the hospital.

Over to you Laurie Dhue...GRRRRRollin'

Are you delusional? Have you ever known any Middle Easterners up close and personal? These folks are fighting battles that stem from the Crusades! USA wasn't even around during the Crusades, battles that occurred before North and South America were even discovered. I remember long conversations with a Lebanese friend in the 80s who blamed the wars in Beirut, and the taking and torture of Western hostages, on some policy promoted by Bobby Kennedy in the 60s. Bobby Kennedy was shot and killed by a Middle Easterner in the late 60s, still in jail for the crime, if you remember. I know Middle Easterners and their American symmpathizers today who bitterly blame the USA for the establishment of Israel in the 1940s and claim that that is what is causing the trouble today.

Looks like you are agreeing with me. These acts of terrorism are revenge in their minds, and our continuing to meddle in their countries, only adds to it.

All the news can be sumed up: Innocent victims are being shot..the Killer or killers run free..all the eye witnesses have given nothing that the media is allowed to report on..Thus no story past a headline. Can beat the story til you are blue in the face but all theories have been repeated over and over..pretty sad when one or only a few can cause this much terror and thousands of Think Tank Specialists can't catch this sniper..and every time some newsman or specialist gets on cable, network or satellite news and makes "some personal attack" on the sniper, he or she or they turn around and attempt to kill again.(example the other night one said.."wouldnt be surprised if it is over now..9 shootings 11 days ... 9/11) They need to keep their mouths shut!!!Just my opinion.

But then again, can a Muslim deceive to kill the infidel????

Moslems use the practice of al taqiyah or lying to the infidel to promote the spread of islam. Anything that helps spread islam is allowed, including killing the infidel.

You have to assume that anything moslems say to us is not truthful. For anyone who would like to understand what we're up against, try this

Islamic concept of Al-Taqiyah to infiltrate and destroy kafir countries

"evidence would have to be LINKED directly from the target site to the place where the shooter was shooting"

If the shooter did shoot from the prone position when he shot the boy, they should have enough of his scent to give to the dogs. That along with the gunpowder could be enough,
I would think.

Surely LE have more than we think. I think since he shoots from wooded areas and he (they) leaves the vehicle and shoots prone each time. I also think he never leaves town. Maybe they should check mini-warehouses in the shooting areas.

I'm betting the white truck is a decoy.

I agree ... the sniper has only to hide in the bushes or parking lot or wherever, wait for a white truck to come to a light. When the light changes, he takes his shot and those witnesses who look around, see a white truck pull away.

If it is terrorism, we can stop it completely by changing our foreign policy. The jihad on America has nothing whatever to do with our foreign policy, but everything to do with moslems' desire to convert/submit us to islam.

The fact of the matter is, that America did not experience acts of terrorism from the middle east, until we started medling in their internal affairs. Thus, my grand parents had no fear of arab terrorism. Look at the facts, America did not always live in fear of arab terrorism. It is a recent development. The arabs themselves will tell you this, and why they are doing what they are doing. George Washington was still right.

First of all, I no longer believe anything the moslems tell us, because their motives are suspect.

And the reason our grandparents didn't have to worry about this is because moslems were not at that point focusing on the colonization of America. They only started in on us after their US population had begun to increase. They're not able to work effectively until they've reached a certain percentage.

In 1970 the US moslem population was 100,000 approximately. Today it is conservatively 3 million. Wait another 10 years if you think we have trouble today.

So I have to ask: Do you sir/madam, sympathize or agree with the terrorism we are experiencing in this country and against our national interests and those performing these acts? I don't give a hoot whether you profess to "understand" it. I want to know if YOU AGREE with it.

"I Am God" could be a statement by someone not experienced with English trying to say "I am killing for Allah(God)" Sort of pidgeon talk. If the Tarot card was from the killers, then it was left to scare people. Part of the game.

We have been fighting terrorism, sabotage, treason, since we became a nation. It is only because of the liberal PC crowd that we started getting terrorized. This is because we un-empowerd ourselves.

"The fact of the matter is, that America did not experience acts of terrorism from the middle east, until we started medling in their internal affairs"

But unfortunately the fact of the matter is they have the oil, so we have no choice but to do business with them. And we absolutely cannot let them hold us hostage because of our need for oil.

So unless we want to develop our own sources of oil, which liberals are adamantly opposed to, we have no choice but to be involved with them. However it we were to do that we could leave them completely alone and let them slide back into the stone age and implode on themselves.

Does the upcoming election have anything to do with why the feds don't want to take responsibility for this and acknowledge that this is foreign terrorism being perpetrated on our soil.

My thought is that they don't want the general populace to panic. I think a lot of what we're seeing is all to that end. To keep a lid on it. Imagine what will happen when they can no longer deny to us what is really happening.

Ashland shooting

BY MARK HOLMBERG, PAUL BRADLEY AND REX BOWMAN
TIMES-DISPATCH STAFF WRITERS

Hanover County and Henrico County Authorities stand watch at the Ponderosa Steak House, where a man was shot while returning to his car after eating in the restaurant.
(Dean Hoffmeyer)

A man was shot in a restaurant parking lot last night near Interstate 95 in Ashland, sparking fears that the sniper who has terrorized the Washington area for nearly three weeks has moved farther south.

Police quickly descended on the area and began closing certain roads around the Ponderosa Steak House on state Route 54 just off Exit 92 of I-95. Three hours later, a limited amount of traffic was being allowed through.

"Right now, we can't confirm that it is related to the sniper shootings, but we are working it as if it were," said Doug Goodman, a spokesman for the Hanover County Sheriff's Office.

The 37-year-old victim's identity was not immediately available, but Ashland Police Chief Ric Pleasants said the man was taken to Medical College of Virginia Hospitals in Richmond with a single gunshot wound to the lower abdomen.

The man was conscious and talking at the time he was transported, and he was able to speak with doctors before surgery, Pleasants said.

He arrived at MCV about 8:30 by ambulance, said Pam Lepley, a hospital spokeswoman. He was in surgery for several hours, she said late last night. She would not reveal his condition.

The victim was leaving the restaurant and walking to his car with his wife when the shooting occurred at 7:59 p.m., Pleasants said.

Pleasants said they were travelers.

The two were near a rear corner of the building and were approaching their car in the back parking lot when the man was struck in the abdomen and fell to his knees, Pleasants said.

"She did not see anything," Pleasants said of the victim's wife. "She did not think she heard a shot."

Other witnesses, though, reported hearing a single shot, Pleasants said.

At least one person who works at a nearby fast-food restaurant said the shooter seemed to be in a wooded area behind the Ponderosa's rear parking lot.

The restaurant is about 300 yards west of I-95's Exit 92 interchange on the south side of state Route 54. The steak house is in a row of businesses that also includes two fast-food restaurants.

All three restaurants are bor- dered to the rear by woods.

Police helicopters and a search plane were in the air, and police canine teams combed the woods.

"Unfortunately, we don't have any credible sighting of a person or vehicle," Pleasants said.

Pleasants said traffic was shut down on all area roads "based on a step plan set up last week" in case the sniper attacked in the area.

Early information gathered at and near the steak house provided nothing to conclusively link the case with the sniper shootings, Pleasants said.

"Caution dictated we make this response," he said.

Agents for the ATF, FBI and other members of the sniper task force were either on scene or on their way late last night.Continue

You are delusional. Further, you are attempting to use moral-equivalency to justify the WTC and Pentagon attacks, which killed 2,400 plus people on our soil.

Islam will not stop until they have conquered the world (unless we stop them).

"To keep a lid on it. Imagine what will happen when they can no longer deny to us what is really happening."

And that has also been my thought, but it already looks like panic is starting to set it.

It has always been my experience that when you have a problem it is better to get up front with people from the beginning than trying to engage in avoidance. In the long run avoidance does more damage than tackling the problem for what it is, even though initially that may be more painful.

If had a daughter rather than a son, this is the way I'd want her to turn out. Beautiful, intelligent and well-bred. And tall. Very tall.

And I'm sure we've done something to offend the current sniper. It's probably revenge in his mind. Why can't we all just get along?

Please get real. There is not a decent government in the middle east, with the exception of Isreal, and possibley Turkey. If the Islamic gogernments quit enslaving and abusing the female 50% of the population, quit enforcing the death penalty for non-conforming religious beliefs, and gave up overt suport for Nazism, then maybe we'd have a basis for discussion. Short of this, the only choice is to defeat them.

It took about 70 years to defeat the Soviets, but it happened.

Before making an observation, I would like to know from someone knowledgeable in firearms whether from available evidence of the type of weapon used whether such weapon can be broken down and, if so, how rapidly?

If the weapon used can be easily concealed after the shooting, I think there may be a reasonable probability that the shooter may be staying in vicinity as a motel which would validate the theory that shooter merely waits for a white van getting ready to move.

Just because someone states the facts about a horrible situation doesn't mean that they are in support of the conditions which cause it or even the solution which might end it. The first step in solving a problem is facing the truth. All of the truth.
