By the time a person heard the ping of the rifle round he would be ringing St. Peter's desk. By the time the sound from a bullet travelling at Mach 3 reaches a person's ear that person is either dead or the bullet missed him.

I saw on another board (Starts with a "L") that someone made the point that the number left behind could have been 911, and of course the sniper could call that number and leave it...My mind also thought of 9-11 instead of 911.......has 911 be mentioned 100 times before????

A bullet traveling at 3000 feet/second doesn't "zing". What you hear is more like a crackling or ripping sound, as the bullet breaks the sound barrier.

And, by the time you heard it, it would already be past you or in you.

Again, I'm talking about a miss, not a Superman-act of dodging a correctly aimed bullet. We have never yet had a report of more than one bullet being found at one of these shootings, which would be the case if there was one or more initial miss but a second (third etc.) shot was made quickly enough to kill the target.
