Ok I read the folklore -- and after staring a tree stump for six hours this stuck out. All of a sudden, he lost his grip on the noose and down he fell into the middle of a old hollow Sycamore tree..

The "Duck in a noose" means the tables are turned. The duck gets away and the hunter falls victim to his own cleverness.
