remember the Butterfly Ballot??? I have been thinking about that, and who could have dreamed up such a design.

I mean a metal strip between folding sheets of paper?????

The ONLY reason I can think of was that they could stack a bunch of them and poke a hole through their candidate thereby invalidating any vote for anyone else. (two holes)

If the metal strip was not there you could not push a pencil through a stack of them.

What other purpose could there be for that metal strip or that ridiculous design??

It's not the written ballot that they counted, it was the IBM punch card underneath it. You pushed a poker through the hole in the ballot and hit the card.
