[history]
October 25, 2002 -- A Kentucky trucker who may have helped stop one of the bloodiest crime sprees in U.S. history says he just did what he had to do.
Ron Lantz told reporters he spotted the Chevy Caprice driven by the two suspected snipers, called the cops and then blocked a Maryland rest-stop exit with his truck.

He certainly does deserve the money! He is a hero because he put his life on the line by blocking the exit with his truck. America has many heroes who don't know they are until circumstances call for their efforts. I heard he declined the money, wanting it to go to victims of the sniper. Now, that IS a hero!

Big bump! What an incredibly brave act. By using his truck to block th exit, he put himself in great danger. These evil POS's would have surely killed him if they had woke up and tried to escape. I'm sure this hero could probably use the money, but instead wants it to go to the victims.

Talk about a study of contrasts!
The muslim terrorist lowlife scumbags that were caught like rats trying to flee the vermin spray are the types NPR, pointy headed liberals and assorted diversity freaks across the land, would hold up as heroes.
And the Kentucky Truck Driver would be someone they would hold in contempt, and think of as stupid.
The Kentucky Truck Driver is my kind of American.
I love how this all breaks out every day as a massive slap in the face of the liberal oppressors who have forced anti-Americanism and political correctness down our throats for years!
Maybe Jim Robinson and the DC area freepers can have an Appreciation Dinner for this patriot and good guy!

Isn't neighbor Angie Breakall talking about Larry Blank, the rest stop attendant and not the trucker?

How does blocking the exit at a rest stop prevent the muslim terrorists from fleeing?

Makes it more difficult. He could have been shot at in his truck if Muhammed went nuts. Mr. Lantz took a risk when he blocked the exit.

Actually I read in a post earlier that the law enforcement community had nothing to do with finding the shooters. The shooters actually tried to identify themselves on that call in line Moose was always talking about. They were hung up on and ignored. It was a member of the clergy who actually turned them in after they spoke with him in desperation.
That explained the cap on news bigtime. Refusal to tell anything. Then all the sudden late at night....Names, car model, tag number, etc....Moose had just held a conference three hours earlier with nothing to report. Citizens solved the case, citizens found the car, citizens aided the apprehention, and the only thing the LEO community did was hang up on them, and release one from custody earlier in the year for being here illegally. The only thing Moose did was made sure their was no profiling in the case, as that is his specialty.

The truck driver has been given the reward. While he was in custody as a witness however, it was found he was wearing a Confederate Flag T-shirt and had a similar offensive sticker on his truck.
The feds are willing to cut him a deal in his situation. Wearing a Confederate flag while engaged in interstate commerce falls under federal hate crimes legistaton. He has agreed to plead guilty and pay a $500,000 fine.

Kentucky was a Confederate State?

To: You Dirty Rats
Kentucky produced many Confederate generals: A.S. Johnston, several Crittendens and Breckinridges, and the great John Hunt Morgan, who made an extensive raid of Ohio. I can't think of any significant Union generals we produced.
To: You Dirty Rats
It was divided. Bowling Green, where I went to college (Western Kentucky University), was the state capitol of Confederate Kentucky. But the Union held Northern Kentucky, not willing to give the Confederacy the easily defendable border that the Ohio River would've been. Or at least that's what I seem to remember from 7th grade Kentucky history.
As far as Mr. Lantz goes, well, he's done his home state proud. I grew up there, and do my fair share of poking fun at Kentucky, but it really is filled with salt of the Earth people. God bless him!
