WASHINGTON -- Democratic Sen. Paul Wellstone of Minnesota, one of the last unapologetic liberals left in Congress and known among his friends as a ``pied piper of modern politics,'' died Friday in a Minnesota plane crash. He was 58.

Wellstone's wife, Sheila Ison Wellstone, and daughter Marcia also died in the crash. Three campaign staff members and two pilots also perished.

"DU has links over there to these FR threads already."

GOOD!! Fact is, the RATS are reknowned fer killing off folks via plane crashes and I'm not gonna be the least bit surprised to find out that Wellstone and his staff were given the Ron Brown treatment...yes, DoltsUnlimited, I'm talkin' at you, Wellstone may have been assassinated and if he was, it was by his own RAT Party!!

Sincerely...MUD

"Paul Wellstone and his "principles" were anathema to the Republic of the United States of America, and true freedom thereof, AS IS THE ENTIRE DEMOCRATIC PARTY..."

Hear hear, my FRiend!!

"Furthermore, with "more people like this," especially on his "side," the Republic's demise and total breakdown would be just around the corner."

NOT!!! Fact is, Wellstone was an unabashed SOCIALIST TWIT in many, many ways...yeah, he sincerely believed that a Soviet-style America would be preferable, but he and all those RATS who think like him are DEAD WRONG!!

Sorry to see Paul die 'cuz I'm very sure he'd have met with his political demise on 5 November anyway, but anybody who pretends Wellstone was anything but a nasty boil on the American political scene is a brain-dead DOLT!!

I don't think John Ashcroft thought he was going to become attorney general. He just did the honorable thing. How about Jean Carnahan pulling all of her husband's ads. I think I heard that right. I watched that woman on a four candidate debate the other day that was most amusing. At one point her anger really came through.

Anyway, the democrats are going to use any angle to win and we might as well realize this.

Yeah - I think you're right about Ashcroft. There's no way he could have known he would be AG at that time. I thought of that as soon as I posted.

But I disagree that he did the honorable thing. I think standing up for the Constitution (not himself) would have been the honorable thing. Sure, the criminal Dems would have accused him of sour grapes, etc., but that's the small price to pay for being a true patriot, and sacrificing popularity for putting up a fight that is yours to put up.

But the guy epitomized everything I despise in a Rat politician...

I'm with you...it's sad for his family, but Wellstone epitomozed everything I stand against, he was for abortion, for partial birth abortion, for Gay rights and gay marriage, favored hate crimes legislation, for affirmative action, for raising taxes, against school choice...and on and on and on. He was a dyed in the wool socialist, the kind of guy who would take every dime he could steal from me to give to the bums and layabouts that refuse honest labor.

The news is that Coleman has suspended his campaign. That's utterly stupid and defeatist. Ashcroft did the same thing and now we're trying to unseat the black widow from what should have been a safe GOP seat. Just because your opponent is no longer in the race is NO reason to stop telling people why the should vote for you. Sheesh!

Thank you. It is good to see some class here. I too agreed with little about his politics but I absolutely respected that he was one of the only unabashed liberals in the Senate. He made no apologies for it and was true to his convictions. Not like the vast majority of the the libs in both the Democrat and Republican membership in the congress.

"Minnesota is run pretty much on the level with intelligent election laws."

Just make sure someone's got their eye out fer RATS bussin' in students from outta State to be Minnesotans fer a day!!

"Laws that will have the D-Rats losing this senate seat."

I think yer Right, my FRiend...fact is, the RAT Elite most likely had a hand in Wellstone's death and if the good folks of Minnesota are so gullible as to reward the same EffeteScumbags with control of the Senate over that, God Save the Queen!!

LOL...MUD

Was he any more a "traitor to the constitution" than the Republicans that voted to pass CFR and the President who signed it into law?

To this poster there are precious few left on both sides of the aisle in congress assembled and executives elected that are not "traitors to the consitution" these days.

Unfortunately!

The passing of Paul Welstone won't bring tears to my eyes either from a political view, but he was one of the only liberals who never tried to pretend to be anything else, unlike many of the "conservatives" in office who are anything but conservative.

Just my thoughts and in no means meant to be offensive to you or your thoughts on the matter. Just adding a bit of amplification.

"Son of Russian immigrants, you would think he would have NOT been so socialistic."

Wellstone, bless his li'l commie heart, was a devotee of Bureaucracy, Unaccountability, and Ineffectiveness...hence his alleged popularity with the Leftists Drones who LOATHE the FReedom, Self-Reliance, and Self-Motivation that Capitalism creates!! Sorry he died, but glad he'll no longer stain the American BodyPolitic!!

Are there any Lefties out there who'd like to take exception to my take here?!

I'm waitin' and willin' to rassle...MUD

However, they are consistent with each other in that they are ALWAYS taking pot shots at Republicans or trying to sow doubt in conservative's minds.

Most lost battles are lost by way of a lack of preparation, a lack of effort...or a loss of faith. Defeatist rhetoric galls me; the words "Never Surrender" are written into the DNA of my soul. I say, the New Republican Empire (control of Senate, House, and Presidency) begins in 2003!

Who's with me???

Was he a gun-grabber? An enabler for baby butchers? Another liberal traitor?

Yes, yes, and yes.

"...Yes, yes, and yes..."

Good riddance to him then.

Pity if any of the others killed were right-minded. If there were any such present they paid a high price for travelling in the company of riff-raff.

Well,
He did take an oath that he would only serve two terms.
Perhaps he was taken at his word.

I find some responses today pretty repulsive. A very decent MAN died today, along with his wife and daughter (and others).

If one is sincere with their oath, do they become more so when hand is placed on a stack of bibles?

LOL!

Do they travel at all?

For each one of our rulers who rambles hither and yon a score of them remain holed up in their mansions.
