A Democratic executive of the U.S. Postal Service abruptly quit last Friday amid allegations that she used the federal mail budget to hurt the re-election chances of Arkansas Republican Sen. Tim Hutchinson. Sources allege that Deborah Willhite, the Postal Service's top lobbyist, pushed to have the budget for Arkansas post offices cutand Hutchinson blamed. The money was to be transferred to Georgia's post offices, allowing supporters there to credit Democratic Sen. Max Cleland, who's in his own tough re-election battle. Senate Republican leader Trent Lott caught wind of the deal making and demanded the resignation of Willhite, an Arkansan who has donated to Hutchinson's opponent and to Cleland. Willhite, however, says "it's all a plot" to discredit her and that she planned to resign anyway. "It spins a good story," she says, "but it's just not the case." Postmaster General John Potter is scouring all recent budget moves for other political hanky-panky.
is betting that his constituents, who by a wide margin punched George W. Bush's ticket last fall, won't remember that their Senator voted against Bush's modest proposal to return one third of the $5.4 trillion surplus to the taxpayers""Cleland is betting the median one-income families of four in Georgia won't remember that they were denied a 75 percent tax cut by their senior Senator's decision to vote the party line as drafted by the Senator from South Dakota."
"Cleland is betting the median two-income families of four in Georgia won't remember he voted against the President's proposal that would have reduced their taxes 42 percent."....
Here is another comparison: Hollywood liberal Dianne Feinstein voted with former President Clinton 88% of the time. Paul Wellstone, perhaps the Senate's most liberal member, voted with former President Clinton 87% of the time. What was Max's percentage? It was 84%. Not only does Max wear the Clinton/Daschle Democratic collar, it's 24 carat gold with diamond studs.

This last reference from the Chicago Tribune is the most troubling. In a very short section it contains an assertion by Willhite about why the USPS didn't immediately test for anthrax, which is immediately followed by an authoritative excuse for that specific assertion by Barbara Hatch Rosenberg.
To wit:
"We had been advised there was no immediate need for us to do any testing," said Deborah Willhite, a senior vice president at the U.S. Postal Service. "The initial thought was that there would be no way that anthrax would present itself out of a sealed envelope."
Envelope specially designed?
Barbara Hatch Rosenberg, an environmental science professor at the State University of New York at Purchase, said the letter may have been designed to release its deadly contents that way.
"A normal preparation would not have seeped out, floated in the air and been inhaled so readily," said Rosenberg, a bioterror expert."
Naftali Bendavid, the writer, didn't seem to follow up with the story these two spun, nor her reasons for following the Willhite statement with the Rosenberg complementary statement. Let's guess that she had them on the phone at the same time.
Let's go through this again slowly. Although Willhite was not the top boss, she was at the top - one of the Senior Vice Presidents. In short, she was very, very influential, and if she was in a position to manipulate national capital budget information to benefit Democrats running for office, she had more influence than has historically been the case for the "company flak".
Let's grant that she had authority, and that she had something more to do with the decision to not test for anthrax than she's ever let on.
If we but note the follow-up career of Barbara Hatch Rosenberg as she attempted to blame first this person, then another, then another, we might well ask if she wasn't maybe the person who advised the USPS to "NOT TEST"?
Well, a week before the election I was getting pretty frantic because we still did not have them. I called the county clerk's office and the lady told me that they had been mailed out three weeks before the election just as I had been told.
So, I went to our APO (army post office) which was located inside Campbell Barracks which is a very hard post to get on. (they won't let spouses on post until after two o'clock in the afternoon because of their parking problem even though they let all sorts of Germany nationals and Europeans on post but that is another story)
Anyway, I asked the woman at the help desk if she knew where our ballots were. (I had already checked our mail box inside the post office) The lady checked in the back and came walking up with them. They had been placed in "bulk mail" even though they had first class postage on them. The absentee ballots were also clearly marked as absentee ballots so that really made me angry. Bulk mail basically consisted of magazines, catalogs and junk mail and typically would take a long time to get.
Most of the magazines would be placed in our boxes a few months after they arrived. I filled out a complaint form but my complaint was never answered.
My husband and I filled out our ballots that night and mailed them express the next day and with return receipt requested. I never received a return receipt back on my ballot. My husband did and it showed that his ballot had arrived at the county clerks office on election day.
So, at least one of us got to vote for President Bush. I have a feeling that the shenanigans happened somewhere between the post office in Fort Smith and the army post office. I have a feeling it happens to a lot of people and probably will again this year.
Notice how she has the dem excuse down, it's all a plot, ala Clintons.
If the Republicans are the party of the rich, then I say the Democrats are the party of cheats, liars and crooks.

the motor voter bill needs to be cancelled. We also need to reform this. In certain Northern and Southern states, the border area is so Damn blue. Whats to stop non-citizen Canucks and Mexicans from voting. Southern counties in texas are practically run by Mexico.
I think the strategy is to register as many per precint -- despite the fact that the people are dead, illegal, made up, etc.-- and then have the poll workers stuff the ballot boxes at the end of the night. Every fake person gives them another vote to manufacture. SO these precints have a 100% turnout and the voter rolls are at least 10 percent phony.
In addition, some of the people who are legally registered, if they don't show up to vote, the poll workers vote for them. It's not complicated.
This country isn't ours anymore. The undemocratic thugs have taken over. Boss Daley's crooked operation has gone national.
