"...this shows the need for a central org to play point and help direct resources to the chapters."

Disagree, my Good FRiend...the beauty of FR.com is that a central organizing point is absolutely--and resolutely--unnecessary!! Look how stale the Left's organizations and rallies have become...not so with ours and that's partially due to the fact that we don't have to worry if what we're saying is being ratified by you or JimRob...and it keeps you and JimRob off the hook as well.

There is the need for both.

For example ... if I had to wait for an organizational procedure before going to Klamath ... I wouldn't have been involved when I was and could not have communicated the essence and explosive nature of what was going on to places like FreeRepublic and SierraTimes on my own. My guess is, that due to the extreme risk at the time and the fact that our "civil disobedience" was in fact not legal and that it was very probable that the government was going to respond with many armed agents (which they did) ... an organization probably would not have embraced the activity at that stage.

However, after the fact, when the danger as averted ... organizations did get involved and helped immensly ... it just took too long IMHO. But, with the long term (10+ weeks) protest at the headgates, with the relief convoys and with events since ... organizations have provided a lot of resource and exposure that individuals acting alone would not have been able to muster.

So .. in that event and with others ... organizations with the correct charter and leadership can help take the intitial efforts of concerned citizens and turn them into large "movements". I believe the organization, program management and leadership of the various organizations should pick up on this and formalize it. FR is a natural place for it. So many individuals are out there getting involved and then posting/reporting on it. If the "organized" part, be it the Network or individual chapters can pick up on and choose the kermnal events quickly and carefully enough ... and then react and organize quickly enough ... huge strides can be made.

Just my two cents ... more like two bits.
