The wheels are grinding, but slowly.
Kick back. Have a beer.

Happy Veterans' Day!
It's been a week...

I don't hear no wheels grinding at all.

We have posted the FR Network's 2001 tax return (Form 990) on the 'Contact' page of
the Network site. This satisfies the IRS requirement to make our tax returns 'widely available' to requestors.
We will continue to post our yearly returns as they are filed.

Someday you'll have to explain to me why Free Republic is always the LAST to find this information.
Comments:
You need to post your old and revised 1024's. It's not clear how your board of directors assumed control of Free Republic Institute which had a separate board.
Your mailing address is unclear as well. The federal tax return lists Bob Johnson's business addy on route 1 in Hermosa Beach 90254, but you've told the State of California that the mailing address is P.O.Box 785, Redondo Beach 90277.

You also have a new agent for service, but his name has been misspelled "Mehacem" on the form submitted to the state of California.

Oh, and for the record and for all the observers out there, the status of FRN corp. as of November 8, is ACTIVE.

You need to post your old and revised 1024's. The professionals we have retained to advise the FRN on tax and corporate matters suggest otherwise. They say, as I reported earlier, that no federal tax filings were required of the Free Republic Institute, which had no revenues.
Obviously you disagree.
Therefore it seems reasonable to ask: what are your own qualifications to provide professional advice to directors of a non-profit corporation? Are you, for example, a CPA or a tax attorney with non-profit expertise?
To: Interesting Times
What on earth about the way FRN is organized and purposed needs to be hidden from the public?
And who are YOU to talk down to me??
Which one of your "professional" advisers advised you to stick goofuses, turncoats and a crook on your board of directors?
Not me, that's for sure.
If you can't see that you need to be above-board and open about how you are organized then ...well, what will separate FRN from a Jesse Jackson non-profit?

Nice tantrum.
The question was...
What are your own qualifications to provide professional advice to directors of a non-profit corporation? Are you, for example, a CPA or a tax attorney with non-profit expertise?
Thanks in advance.

Forget it. I'm not applying for a job in anything this silly.
What part of this statement does not apply to Free Republic Network Incorporated.?
In general, if a tax-exempt organization filed an application (a 1024 in the case of a 501c4) for recognition of exemption under section 501, it shall make its application for tax exemption available for public inspection without charge at its principal, regional and district offices during regular business hours.
That's a question --- not advice.

We'll be posting the FR Network's application for tax-exempt status and the IRS reply letter in the near future.
Feel free to resume pacing the room and muttering to yourself.

Apparently I was right again and very helpful. Looks like you are starting to operate more like a legitimate non-profit now and less like a bunch of kids in a treehouse.
Good for you!

Feel free to resume pacing the room and muttering to yourself In other words, act like I'm a member of the Free Republic Network Board of Directors.
