WASHINGTON (AP) ? Younger black adults are increasingly more politically independent and less likely to identify themselves as members of the Democratic Party, says a new poll that suggests overall support among blacks for Democrats over Republicans is still strong.

Am I the only one that remembers a SNL episode with him on it?

Oh no. I think that was one of the single best episodes SNL ever did. Remember when he gave a monologue about his pleasure at the great amount of diversity at NBC, and decided to go into the control room to thank the crew? Then the camera switched to the control room, 100% occupied by middle-aged white guys. Then someone yelled, "Oh no, he's coming in! Move everybody, move!" And they all ran out and a bunch of black twentysomethings took over all the seats about two seconds before Jesse burst then. They all high-fived each other or whatever, and then Jesse left, and all the black guys were sitting there trying to figure out how to control the broadcast. You saw them mumbling and playing with switches, then the screen went blank, then some color bars, while you still heard the control room audio of the black guys getting increasingly agitated, then suddenly they dumped into a "Tippy Turtle" cartoon about 15 seconds into the tape. It was absolutely hilarious, and possibly a bit over the line by somebody's standards: I seem to vaguely remember a rebroadcast of the show later on in the season where the part with the black guys screwing up had been edited out; it just went straight from Jesse leaving the control room to the Tippy Turtle cartoon, which aired in its entirety. (I think the Tippy episode was the one where he taught viewers how to annoy your enemies by ripping apart a musical greeting card (they were really "in" at the time because it was the height of technological miniaturization in 1984, or something like that). What you do is rip the card open and remove the little metal part with the music chip and the battery, and then shove it into the lining of your victim's coat collar. Then he puts on the coat after work and heads home, slowly thinking he's losing his mind because this tinny Christmas music is filling his ears everywhere he goes and he can't figure out why.)

Hey hey Tippy Turtle walkin' down the street
Tell us what you're gonna do!
First I'm gonna bother everybody in town
Then I think I'll go home and get drunk.

I've always thought the '81-'85 era was SNL's best by far. The humor was a bit more intellectual, they took more chances (Lorne Michaels would NEVER allow Edwin Newman to be a guest host!), etc.

Your saying the KKK were Republicans is pretty funny but I think a total myth.

TX Republicans put out a flyer about African Americans and Texas Politics

The Republican party was formed in 1854 after the Democrats voted to protect and to extend slavery.

13th Amendment abolishing slavery passed Congress with the support of EVERY voting Repuclican member but only 23% of Democrat members.

14th A passed with NOT EVEN ONE Democrat in Congress voting for civil rights for African Americans.

When the republcian party emerged in Houston on 7/4/1867 the KKK actively began to attack blacks AND REPUBLICANS!!!

We must have been doing something right!

There is more but the fingers are tired, my question is.... Why do we have such a bad rap? The Democrats are SUCH GOOD LIARS!

Oh I almost forgot.... 1964 Civil Rights Act Democrats controlled the House, Senate and Pres. LBJ but couldn't get the votes. It passed because of the Republicans!

"The Point is Moot"? And I doubt they replay that skit like they do like all the others.

No no no, The QUESTION is Moot!

"That's it, we're out of time."

"But, but ... who gets the car?"

"AH GET DA CAR!"

"Why?"

"The question is moot!"

Maybe they realized that decades of whining, claiming victimhood status, and accepting free handouts hasn't done them a hell of a lot of good.

That would be almost too good to be true! But I believe it is possible, given time. Increasing affluence -- e.g. rising from the poor to the middle class -- leads to increasing support for the conservative agenda. The dims realized this as far back as the early sixties, which is why they led the charge to open the borders to Mexico. They knew that they would eventually lose the (dimo) voters in the South. Unfortunately, the country club 'pubs have rolled over again and again, and have given the dims the rope that will eventually be used to hang them. I for one hope that, if the dims win, limp-wristed country club 'pubs like Vacant Lott are the first to be cast into the gutter of political inconsequence, which has been their destiny.

Black conservative ping

If you want on (or off) of my black conservative ping list, please let me know via FREEPmail. (And no, you don't have to be black to be on the list!)

Extra warning: this is a high-volume ping list.

I don't have the temperment for it. I'm to much of a "hot-head" to be out front.

You can do it if McCain can. That guy is one nervous twitch away from going postal on the whole senate.

I definitely see this trend in my state (Cheeseheadland). Most of the young Blacks in the room at a recent political forum were wearing t-shirts supporting the GOP candidate for govervor.

"Therefore, I ask for each of you to stand behind and support those of us who are taking the conservative message to younger black people. If nothing else, lend your moral support. That's all I ask."

Count me in.

"Just as long as the Dems can identify a large enough group of "have-nots"--people that have never figured out how the American dream works..."

Better to say:
"Just as long as the Dems can identify a large enough group of "have-nots"--people that have been actively prevented - by the DNC propaganda machines known as the NEA and Mass Media - from figuring out how the American dream works ..."

I appreciate that and am flattered. But to be honest, I don't have the temperment for it. I'm to much of a "hot-head" to be out front.

I'm sure you know yourself, but... just allow me to contest that statement for a moment.

"Hot-head" = passion. That's what we need. Someone with some genuine passion to make a difference.

You can learn to control your mouth. Keep the passion, just learn the self-control needed!

You're young. Even if you still think you may not be suitable material for running today, there's always tomorrow.

And if I still haven't convinced you... well, you definitely still have my moral support! :-)

Democrat links with KKK are well documented, as is their atrocious record on civil rights. These things are brushed off by the ilk on DUh as being solely the product of so-called 'Dixie Democrats' and not the real Democratic party. This shows the liberal lefts ability to compartmentalise issues, for example when discussing Stalin they will talk about free dental rather than millions slaughtered.

An introduction turns into a quasi-referendum! I can dig it, and I appreciate you all.

But this is his intro. He slips, kick him in the butt, and set him on the right path.

And to think he calls me tough. Ha! I've already told him that he's seen nothing yet. ;-)

Challenge him. Question his assumptions and views. Toughen his resolve so that he can speak fearlessly. Face it, as it stands today, one can not be black and an outspoken conservative without strength and heartfelt conviction.

It's real out here on the battlefield.

No mercy.
Coming soon: Tha SYNDICATE.
